tell me about the insurance please, as Ive only ever insured my cars as my only car but would get a cheap run around if it meant knocking the insurance right down

All i know is that they normally have a milage restriction on the second car....Absoloutly feckin useless for me with my 25,000 a year :mad:

Its about fookin time (in this day and age) that Insurance companies recognised the fact that enthusiasts like us needed apolicy that can have more than one car. I searched for hours but no one seems to do it. Years ago If you had a motorbike over 1100cc you could get a Norwich union rider policy and you could basically ride whatever you wanted and be insured. It wouldn't be hard to initiate. After all you can only drive one car at a time?

Just out of interest but how does the insurance company know how many miles? mine didn't ask for the milage.

It is a pain, as my Zed will only be used on dry summer days and will be kept in a garage over the winter.

 

I currently have a Cavalier as my daily runner, but that goes soon as I'll get a company car next month, so that problem is solved for me for the time being. But had right problems trying to decide what to do with my old car insurance wise. I just rang up and kept chopping and changing as my insurance company will have a runover period of 2 weeks. At that point, both cars were insured.

A word of warning re runover period of 14 days. If I understand you correctly you mean once the policy expires you have a further 14 days cover from your insurance company? This is correct as part of the Road Traffic Act 1988 however if you were to have an accident or make a claim in that period then the insurers are more than likely going to sue for damage and recover the costs incurred.
