oooooo kkkkkk.

finally got the car back from stanstead, checked the water and it was very oily.

now definately believe it to be a head gasket problem!!

started going through the tutorials on twinturbo.net etc and can see a lot of jobs that could be done whilst im at it.

should have 3 days a week for the next 5-6 weeks to get the car roadworthy again, but can leave the car in its little car port for as long as i want if the money starts to run out!!

first off - anyone on here know where i could get the heads skimmed???

if im going to do this i want to know theyr in good order when i put everything back.

secondly - a lot of mention has been made re: bypassing the water through the plenum and pcv removal (not aiv like my post a few days back :xxx: ), whats the benefits??

will also be replacing water pump, oil pump, cam belt etc - is there anything else i should be doing, either from a servicing point of view or as a mod, whilst everythings in bits???

many thanks fellas!

Yeah bin the spinners!!!! :x:

Yeah bin the spinners!!!! :x:

Oh yes, i think the spinners are the main cause of the head problem, i noticed that when you were following me up to JAE the electro magnetic flux transmitted by your spinners were causing my water temp to raise, and i put it down to the power of the flux (negative neons) beign transmitted was bending my cylinder head (posative neons),they say that opposites attract, but lucky i had my head mig wired or i would have over heated.

I think the best thing to do is fill the bearings in your spinners with anti magnaflux araldite rapid, then spray with anti flux spray and wrap your wheels in .0015" gauge aluminium foil (shiney side facing inwards) for 3 weeks to keep it from leaking out.

Hope this has been of some help, if you need any more technical help give me a ring you have my number.

pmsl

oh, and its your aiv's you want to remove. Not PCVs! :)

pcv hoses and valves

egr systym removed

water bypass

heater matrix pipes x2 again not vital but if your HG problem was caused through a leak from there might be worth changing

cambelt, tensioner w pump ancilary belts, thermostat unless done already, new cambelt at the very least anyway!

main seal

front crank seal

any hoses that look suspect

inc turbo feeds, check turbos whilst your at it wouldnt make sense to have engine out and not check them over

intake manifold gasket not always necesary!

if you had any exhaust leaks from manifolds worth it to do now as its so much easier with engine out new gaskets etc

probably missed a bit but thats all i can think off

HTH greg

also check simple things like radiator seal and cap must be a reason why your HG went in the 1st place

!

had my water pipes removed/rerouted from plenum by jeff (zedworld, cost £90).

got this done due to water pipes FOREVER BREAKING, so if they do go in the future they should be easy to replace..............well maybe not "easy" just more accessible ;) !
