sorry folks meant cambelt ???

What makes you think it's the belt?

Can't imagine it would make a noise...

The tensioner can go a bit rusty but it's a very strong spring so I wouldn't have thought it would jam unless it's almost fully extended anyway.

If it is the tensioner then i wouldn't be driving it as a slipped belt could be VERY expensive.

To change it you need the radiator out, all belts off, radiator hard pipes on front of engine off, cam covers off.

Might as well change the belt while your at it for another £30.

thanks for reply chrisc, the cars been parked up for 3 months while ive done repairs to it, when ive come to start it again theres a knocking from the belt area, if you put your hand over belt cover you can feel it knocking, so i put it down to the tensioner, but i cant see how its gone when the cars not been started for 3 months, i took it for a quick spin to see if it might of been one of the tappits sticking but the noise is still the same, the only other thing i can think it might be is the cambelt tensioner, was hoping there was a easier way of fixing it.
