not yet, but will have in the next few weeks

That's the Knightsbridge ZX - parked at the back of our trade stand last weekend at JAE. Had a good look around it and although it's a good gimmick the quality of the hinges leave a lot to be desired and there is no contra weight to aid in raising or lowering the door. As the doors are one of the heaviest parts on the Zed you will need quite a strong arm to open and close it. Also, it opens about 12 inches like a normal door first before it can be swung open or closed. It's about time someone created aftermarket hinges to mimick the doors on the Konigsegg ... now that would be cool!

mmmm koenigsegg doors - now id pay money for that - there was a company early part of this year that were supposed to be developing them, they used a corsa to start with.

oh yeah, knightsbridge zed - he butchered a set made for ek civic so there not built for our heavy doors. i think chris@getgreddy was getting some sorted wasnt he?

Not all that keen on them to be honest. They look ok on cars with framless doors like Zeds, but there are too many of these things popping up.....

Some more cars with framed doors....this looks almost as bad...

i was waiting to see a pic of grans calibra turn up in this post!!! awesome car, quite an old pic. as you say the doors def lend themselves to it, also have a saxo, xsara and corsa in the club with lambo doors and they just dont look quite as good as the calibra!

Yeah, Gran's car is done very very well. Has things on it generally that I wouldn't like, such as the rather large bumpers, it also has afterburner lights which generally I'm not keen on, but Gran pulled it off with this one...here's another pic...everything works well on it.

nice, install is quality too!

think it was bpj that done his doors wasnt it???

Not too sure mate, I've had a hunt around and can't find out where they were done. I'll let ya know if I come across it.

Evening all,

Top site by the looks of things, good work!

got pointed in this direction by Mowgs.

My car was pretty much the 1st in the UK to have a Vertical Door Conversion way back in Feb 2004, the 1st pic posted was taken at Donny 04 and there was only 2 other cars with Lambo's fitted back then.

The company that fitted my door kit is http://www.blingmything.com they are based about 5mins from Gatwick and cover everything from a new set of bulbs to door kits, air suspension, installs etc etc.

The kit i have fitted is a weld on kit, it will lift a full 90degrees, mine will go all the way up but stopped them where they are so as i can have the bonnet fully open as well as the doors.

The kit uses 2 gas struts on each side, mine are using 400psi as the Calibra doors are pretty heavy. The have recently fitted the door kit on a Merc SL500 and a H2 Hummer as well as Porsches, BMW's etc etc

imo it's the only kit worth having............. just remember, you get what you pay for with something like this!

here are a couple of more recent pics for you and cheers for not slating the car ;)

Welcome to the forum Gran :) Mind me asking how much the conversion cost?

Cheers,

Leigh.

I got a 'special' price ;)

drop the guys a bell and im sure they'll sort you out a good deal.

it does vary from car to car depending how difficult they are to fit.

Kits can now be fitted within a couple of days from start to finish.

Cheers gran!!

Thanks for that link.. cant wait till i get home to check it out...

I am going to have fun....

tell them jonny boy is on his way to get a job done... maby even call em on my lunch...

hmmmm lambo doors...

Cheers gran!!

np bud ;)

i wish it was mate, it's only a 16v, should have started off with a turbo when i began all the modding.

had the intention of keeping it standard when i bought it, that lasted about 2 weeks :D

insurance was the deciding factor 3 years ago

if you remember guys i told you about these hinges a while ago, as chris greddy was going to get the vdc ones in.

the best lambo hinges to get full stop are the GT FACTORY hinges.

cnc machined 1 1/4" inch cromaloy billet stainless steel, they are dual ram and are the 90 degree hinges, voted usa number one hindge last year and this year, uks best import hinge this year.

weld on kit only, but!!!!!

i am having some door mounts lasercut for mine that will allow the units to bolt on.

you template the inner of the door where the bolts go top to bottom then step a section in, give it to the laser cutters and then the shoe gets welded to this plate not the door!

on the wing you then template a t section from the top of the door fixings to the bottom then a pice that runs horizontally inwards the verticle section is bolted and the rear of the section has two small inch welds. the hinge gets welded to the plate and not your car, that way you keep all the strength of the fixing holes.

heres the main website for the hinge makers.

yep, totally agree.

GT Factory hinges are what i have.

it's the same kit you will get fitted by the guys at bling i mentioned in my other post.

I do like your zorsts very smart. ;)

cheers. they're genuine Porsche 996 Turbo tailpipes.

Try to be different without going over the top, they do get mixed reactions though!!

gran get them to dial the screws in on the hinges as they can go in a bit more and not give that angled look from the front. there should be two adjusting bolts there.

i spoke to daniel at chaser and showed him the pic (email) and he said that you should be able to have a more vertical look from the front.

worth speaking to the bling bros about.

they're real hassle to fit on a calibra, loads of cutting and new box section etc

the face of the door had to be cut out and strenghtened as there was too much flex, the door had 2 or 3 seperate skins and they were useless to weld on to.

the doors do lift themselves though, running 400psi on each side.

they will go more vertical, right up infact, but i had them stopped there so as i can have my bonnet fully open with the doors up as the long term plan is to add to the under bonnet chrome bits. (when money allows!)

theres also enough room to get in and out the car by opening the door without putting them up! ideal in the rain ;)

do you have this kit fitted?
