My HP scanner/printer combo has now officially died so I'm on the look out for a new one. Can anyone recommend a decent, good quality unit?

Cheers,

Leigh.

Well I recently brought the Lexmark X1100, they sell for around £40 - £50, and the ink is around £12 each. Not a bad little unit.

Sounds good! What model would you recommend fella?

Ive had a couple of epsoms and will never buy another. Print quality is fantastic but unless your using it almost every couple of days you need to run the head cleaning cycle about half a dozen times before printing a picture.

hmm yea if you use their crap inks..

i have projets here that i sell to my customers the inks contain an additive that doesnt allow blocking or head crap. when cleaned its all fine for ages, but if you read the small print on any printer you should always clean the heads after 30 prints, usually the printer will do this automatically anyway, when you turn it on it cleans also and then primes the jets.

same on any printer except thermal and direct print. and laser

can you recomend a brand of cartridge then? I do like the quality of the prints so I dont really want to buy a new prnter till its fooked

I've always been a Canon man ;) Cheap to buy, good quality, and most of all (I like the way you move...) the ink is dirt cheap. I usually buy ink in bulk (8 or 10 cartridges) from ebay for around a tenner
