I've got some BMW M3 315mm Brembo disc's and jap spec alloy 4 pots off a TT zed on my S13 200SX. they work amazingly but i'm getting a rubbing/soft grinding noise thats doing my nut in on the drivers side. its not a constant sound, it seems to be based on how quickly the wheels are turning.

it doesn't start making any noises untill i've been driving for a while. when it starts making the noise i can let go of the steering wheel and it'll still roll straight. it'll also brake perfectly straight too. i've also jacked it up straight after its made the noise and can turn the wheel freely by hand.

whats the strangest thing that confuses me is that when i turn left the noise stops and if i turn right it goes twice as loud. the noise stops if i touch the brakes but a couple of seconds later it returns.

also, when the car has been parked over night and i 1st move off in the morning there is a loud clunk from the drivers side wheel (as if the calliper is stuck on)

i've stripped the calliper, changed all the seals and cleaned up the pistons. its all moving nice and freely.

they've been like this for about 4k on the car and whats strange is the pads aren't worn unevenly or more than the pads on the other side.

at one point, there was a sticking piston(s) in the calliper as i've brake hard at 3 figures and when i jumped off the brake the drivers side would still be on for a few seconds more and i'd be switching lanes without wanting to! that was all fixed when i took them apart and now it doesn't do this.

any ideas about the noise? could it be something simple like the the metal shim thingy that is on the pins is on the wrong way around or something?

the service manuals for 200SX's are on PDF files and available to download for free. is it the same for the 300's? if so, anyone have a link for me. maybe it says something helpful in there.

Cheers, Tom.

btw. if your thinking that it screams of a wheel bearing, i swapped the drivers side one. that said, the noise did go for a few weeks before it came back, so i suppose it could be possibly gone again?

not been cheeky but did you fit the wheel bearing or a garage, Only saying this cause i fitted a wheel bearing to my mk2 golf and i didnt do it properly, within a monthe it was knackered again

i got a garage to remove and press in the new one. i then torqued it up the specified setting.

when i read through this thread, it did sound very much like wheel bearing though. i have a spair set of hubs so maybe its worth trying these out.
