anyone got any info or guide to changing a series 1 ptu for a series 2 ?? Is it a case of a simple connector ?? or does it involve soldering ??

Unplug old, and plug in new short harness in to old harness. Job done :D :D

But make sure you haven't got any of that old green gunk on the old connectors!! If you have make sure its all gone first.

Would the PTU be a prime candidate for the following symptoms?

Starts ok then once warm and idling, the revs drop while pulling away? When I touch the throttle to move off, the engine revs drop a bit and she almost cuts out but then recovers.

When moving from drive to reverse, the engine revs drop again and a few times have cut out completely. Starts again but when going back into reverse, enginerevs again drop then cut out. Doesn't do it all the time...

Probably not.

mine involves soldering, but im not telling you why :)

Mine involves fabricating a bracket, the reason for which should be obvious !

I suspect he doesn't have the adapter loom.

Try cleaning your MAF sensor with so Brake Disc cleaner. Or check that your TPS is set correctly.

Karl as said above its just plug and play,I changed mine for a series 2 and mounted it on the inner wing, however i took it off as I don't need one any more, nor will you if you are going for full engine managment

I also moved and solded mine. It was moved next to the air filter (APEXi fitted), and I decided to solder it so as to cut out any chance of another connection becoming a problem. It's a straight forward job to simply solder the new series two connector into your old loom.

this is true but on the management system ive ordered, its not a basic part of the system , It looks like its possible to add a iginition module but might just decide to go with a series 2.

I do have the connector loom, but like said above, didnt see the point of addin another 2 connections in to the mix, so am soldering the nerw connectors into the old loom and shortening them to fit the new position.
