Hello SRRAE,My car (Frank) first went funny at the petrol station, sounded like he was going to conk out, when I parked for petrol he woldnt start again, not even turn over.Got help to push out of the way, tried again, he was making a weird clicking noise, I fiddled with wires, didnt know what I was doing, just tried, and he started again and went long enough to get me home.Next day he turned but wouldnt start, I put him on charge, but still no joy, but clicking continued. My dad came and checked that fuel was getting through, we then tried a new distributor cap, at some point he stopped turning over and the clicking stopped, no charge was going to the distributor. Took him to garage, who found part of a circuit board in drivers well was damaged, fixed it, still nothing, mechenic thinks its the epu, but dosnt know what blew it in the first place...Thanks for asking, any ideas would be very welcome,it seems these cars have very complicated electrical systems and apart from the mechanic who has had a look at him(who rewired him after a fire a few years ago),no other local mechanics will.Nissan main dealers are useless, have tried them in the past for other stuff, charged me a fortune and didnt sort the headlight problem anyway.Cant really tow him anywhere.Me and my dad towed him to garage which is not very far,but Frank is really heavy on the brakes and the steering without power. Please let me know if you have a clue what to do, Cheers Lisa

Tell me you haven't called your car Frank?...lol

Lisa,

I suspect your car is a Z31 rather than a Z32. So a 240/260/280z, rather than a 300zx twin turbo which is what we specialise in. I'm sure someone will be able to help you, but we need to be certain which car we're discussing.

What do you mean by distibutor cap Lisa, these cars don't have one

I have a 15 year old Nissan 300 ZX Turbo automatic. It has a black thing under the hood with metal bits that anothother metal thing rotates past to cause a spark, this is me being technical about cars, thought it was called a distributor cap, what do you call it?

coversummer05.jpg 1502Side-med.jpg

these are Z31

frontqtrdriverside.jpg This is a Z32 which doesn't have a distributor.

Both the Z31 and the Z32 are called 300ZX but they are completely different cars.

If you need help with a Z31, the zclub are helpful peeps. We're helpful too :D but we know more about our Z32s than anything else...

Good Luck - Gio

Hello Andy, my log book calls my car a Nissan 300ZX made in 1987, 2960 cylinder capacity, petrol, 2 door, white, T-bar roof, pop-up lights and very very gorgeous and very very fast....it is a turbo, dont know about twin...any ideas???
