Now I'm really pissed off!!! I've had my 300TT auto. for about six weeks now. Some of you may have seen my earlier post on rough idleing probs. and auto. stalling etc. etc. Well, I've been to my local Nissan dealer who charged me 60 squid for a consult output whereas I've noticed some of you mention a price of around 20 to 30 squid...hmmm! They wanted me to spend 1000+ squid on my car and couldn't guarantee that this would sort the problem. SEE YA!

Dealer Number 2 - Without naming them, which I should do anyway, they have somewhat of a reputation in the Nissan community! Told them I wanted my car sorting, not bothered about money, provided that it would give a positive result! Three days later, rang them up, "Your car is sorted just about, tick-over is just about spot on blah, blah, blah!!!". Went to get the car, ten minutes down the road noticed no difference whatsoever. Got to a Shell petrol station and sat waiting for a pump and smoke starts to belch out from under the car and up past my open drivers side window...NICE! Fill up with Super, engage D and car stalls...even NICER!!! So, best part of 773 squid later and my car is still the same. I asked for PTU to be changed as I new that there had been a recall everywhere else. Asked Nissan if this was free to replace, not likely son! Maybe in USA or anywhere that isn't UK but not here mateys...surprise...surprise!!! Now I still have problems, also water leaking into passenger side footwell which a few of you maybe aware of after my reply to coogs recent post. Occasional unwanted smoke inside the car, oh yeah, and tried to shut the hatch on my boot yesterday and it would shut, found that after removing the plastic shroud that there were bolts missing of the boot catch and it had simply fallen down into the hatch area...I'm starting to wonder where Nissan dreamed up the 35,700 price tag for these machines when they were new...

Anyway, let's not be too bitter, I still like the car regardless, I don't know, they just have that presence about them that makes the chicks love it! So, I will now go to Nissan dealer number 3 in the New Year on recommendation from someone nice on this site. Have already spoken to the geezer afore mentioned and it sounds like I may, just may, have found someone in this country who know a little about these cars and also works for Nissan main dealer.

To sum up, I think that these cars were designed by very clever Japanese people who made them technologically bullet proof. However, they have mostly been looked after by complete MUPPETS over here in the UK!!!

Capiche...

Oh one other thing, checking my fluids the other day, generally looking around the engine bay going "What the hell does that do?" etc. Noticed something sitting on the right hand headlight. Thought "That shouldn't be sitting there! wonder what it is???". A depleated roll of electrical tape...just sitting there, all on its own! Checked left hand head light and noticed a largeish metally type object, just sitting there aswell, turned out to be a cable holder from the top of the engine.

That would have been most interesting if either of these foreign objects had worked themselves looser and into the fast moving exposed parts of my engine, don't you think?

Timmy.

You need to give me a call at Grasshopper.

We have a good working relationship with Middlehurst Nissan.

We are able to offer you discount.

Tooley, Myself and Mick have had work carried out and are more than happy with the result.

If you have a problem with Nissan dealers let me know and I am sure that I can do something to help.

TOOLEY HOW DID IT GO WITH THE SWAMP DONKEY?

Timmy,

I suggest that you get in contact with Nissan UK customer relations (especially if the car is a UK spec One ) and report said dealerships to them explain everything that happened Etc.

I presume that you live down south by the sounds of the prices quoted. My local Nissan garage aren't the best in the world but they are generally Ok for not too complicated shit, They have done several tests on my car including a consult one for free in the past.

I will do as much work on mr car myself as possible from now on as per my post (buch of Muppets) early this month, I know how you feel believe me, but mi sure that if you take it to the rite place in future then im sure that you will get the problem sorted.

If you are up north give Johnny a shout as per his post, if you are up north as one of the crew (craig, Jez, SteveE DaveH etc.) down there for some help or take the trip to SE Nissan in Maldon Essex. they will be able to sort it for you.

Hope that helps.

I've just had a great idea !! Instead of bitching about your experience why not give the Nissan dealer concerned a call and explain how pissed off you are with the service you have recieved. Then maybe you might get a bit of help to fix your problem. I find direct action always works. :-)

Sorry, I thought that's what this forum is for. So that other people who experience the same problems don't end up in the same situation.

Am in the process of sorting it now!

Cheers

,,!,

I think the issue here is that we are leaving our cars in the hands of supposed experienced technicians who are charging the earth and not rectifying the problems or advising accordingly!!

If I spent over £700 and my problem wasn't solved then I would at the top of the complaining list, and that includes letting you lot know about it.

I wouldn't let a nissan dealer within 3 feet of my Z- except maybe to do an oil change- and then I'd check what they'd done. Not all their fault - working on a micra all day then suddenly a 300ZX! How many are trained up on the cars and how many know it without one hand on the manual? I use SE. Always been straight with me.

having seen both sides you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. i use a guy who has fixed my cars for years for general servicing and even to the extent that he did my rad when it broke for less than a third of any nissan dealer. but if you take the case of my matrix then u have to use an agent like say middlehursts for two reasons. firstly these guys are not just micra mechanics ive seen plenty of skylines in there and they are just as complicated to work on as any 300 so they do know what they're doing. secondly they know about how a garage can suffer through word of mouth and i'm sure if a job wasnt done right and you kicked up a fuss it makes business sense to fix it to the customers requirements which a big oufit like they are would do. my only gripe about any main agent is the fact that we are paying big bucks for anything to do with the 300 which is now not a top of the range model by any stretch its ten years old and isn't even made any more yet there is this fairy story about this fabled car. a good car yes but when you think you pay more for a service on a 300 than you would for a brand new porsche or bmw equivalent. it's a shame we don't live in japland as we would all be laughin but hey that's the uk for ya and at the end of the day it just brings home the fact that there's no easy way to run what in its day was at the end of the day a supercar contender otherwise i for one would have got another cheap ford cossie and been just like every bugger else. sorry gents i'll step down off my soap box now and get back to being the forum clown

Thanks guys, it would appear to me that the general majority of you have, at some time or another, had a bad experience with a main dealer/independent. I won't bleet on about this for much longer as I understand that some of you obviously believe it is pointless!

I believe that when you pay as much as we do to even own one of these cars, and buy knowing that the car has full main dealer history, as we're all brainwashed to do...you expect the car to be virtually perfect in every respect. I know that there is no such thing as a perfect second hander but the problems that I notice most people experiencing at not even high mileage, I think is unacceptable.

I had the same issues with Toyota main dealers so it's not me being biased about Nissan. Isn't it about time we got a fairer deal?

you know the saying if you want it done right do it yourself.

lol

well i personally wouldent touch mnay of the aftermarket tuners cause if something goes wrong whos accountable.

you know you get the "it was like that when it came in" after they f*&*^k something up.

at least at a nissan dealer they can be held accountable(i think im just saying that cause my car is at nissan in rome)he he he

well at least we all learn from these mistakes.

I find the dealers vary hugely. Stay away from Mark Kass dealers in London. They'll charge 90quid an hour labour (on 300s and Skylines) and do a crap job (they are all Micra mechanics). On the other hand, Nissan Ipswich is superb and do loads of work for Silvia. They always have loads of 300s and Skylines. Can't fault them really. Find a dealer (or any garage) that someone here can recommend and stick to it unless there is an emergency!

Shock......tooley with a reasoned sensible argument...never thought I would see the day!!!

Have n e 1 ever had a response from Nissan UK Customer Service headquaters?

There must be hundreds of "poor service" reports on this forum. I dont think the top men in Nissan would be over pleased with what is happening...
