Wife just got back from work in my Z. When she pulled up i went out to assist her parking as she was all over the shop. Anyway, noticed water dripping from under the car. had a look and it was too far forward to be the overflow, so popped bonnet and water was seeping out of the rad cap. I could hear bubbling from the plenum area too :(. Turned on ignition and the temp guage when right up just before the redline. Wife says thet car felt fine and she never noticed the temp guage rise untill she was parking it, which means it was probally boiling over for some time. She was stuck in trafic in the down center for some time in the heat with the air-con on and then when she got to the dual carridgeway she gave it some caning.

Im hoping i not ****ed, with JAE round te corner. Any idea's?

Hope your head gaskets ok mate. Overheating on the Z will fook it.

my thoughts exatly

check for airlocks bud , run car , rad cap off and heater on full blast. hopefully just nothing. i had a similar problem after evertime i took for a blast id pull over and it dumped water. It ended up being the heater matrix rubber hoses at back of engine perished and must have been letting in a very slight amount of air into the system. But hopefully its not anything dude.

Sounds Like The Same As Me Mate!!!

Rad Cap Nacked When It Over Heats And Your Here The Bubberling Push Down On Your Rad Cap If It Stops Making A Noise Its Your Cap Gone!!! It Lets Air Into The System

deffo mate , casued mine to dump water loads of times , changed them and no probs since !! also change rad cap and bleed for airlocks..that should sort it hopefully. If ut head gasket was gone it would overheat everytime you drive the car once its up to temp.

depends how fooked the heads are but almost right

i had a similar problem a few months ago. turned out i had a small fracture along the side of the radiator (gawd knows how!) and it was pee'ing water out everywhere. temp gauge hit maximum and POWER light started to flash at me

had custom-built rad put in and all was well.

hope you get it sorted mate.

If your rad is stock then the plastic end tank wears away and you wont ever get a seal on your rad cap.

Did a check today and it turns out the electric fan didnt work (took off the conectors and it didnt come on). Few squirts of elec contact cleaner on the connector righ by the fan and now it works again. hopefully she fine for JAE now.

Its not but its anouther problem ive spotted and sorted. don know what to do about the rad cap, is it a new rad or new cap? I have 2 std nissan ones and a greddy one. the greddy one can be removed without even undoing.

hmm that would be the 4th RAD in a year, all 2nd hand ones. think its time for either a brand new OE one or an uprated one.

After several tests i managed to recreate the water out of rad cap. Basically if you run 15psi boost as she was that day then she looses water thru the rad cap. 13 psi ans below doesnt cause a problem. ive turned down the boost to 5psi for the moment to be on the safe side. i normally run 5 psi, but it was turned upto 15 when i raced a motorbike thursday night. forgot to turn it back down before lending car to wife who has no idea what a boost controller is. been driving car all week wit no problem untill last night when i upped the boost as part of the test, no overheating but water (about 1 liter) dripped ou of the ad cap after engine was switched off.
