How do I fix the peeling on my A-frames (I think that's what it is called)

Anyway you will see from the photo what I mean.

Thanks, Mike...

I have just got a complete trim kit from Luke. That includes the bits you need plus along targa's and tiny bits towards tailgate, £100 plus vat IIRC.

Another quick way and what I did as an interim is black insulating tape. Sounds a bodge but actually looks ok. Except you can see the uneveness of the surface through the tape...but alot better than the half-of-it-peeling-off look!

I Sanded mine back to metal and roughed up the surface then painted with Black Plastic bumper spray.

has that got the stuff in to allow for a bit of movement without cracking :D

i used a paint called plasti-kote, first i removed the coating, but didnt go all the way round as you damage the rubber on the sides. then i primed with plasti-kote primer and then painted with plasti-kote black, you can use another paint called pectra paint, they are both great for plastics and metal trim

what do you mean mate by didnt go all the way round??

Obviously if I had a money pit like Scrooge McDuck I would go down this route but it sounds a little too pricey.

This sounds like the way to go, I'm off to find some Plasti-Kote.

Thanks again chaps.

well when you take the trim off that runs down the roof and the windows on the swb it has rubber on the edges that goes to the edge seal that touches the glass, i used a rotary wire brush in a drill and took all the black stuff off but where the rubber was i only took so much off.

remember that the plasti-kote will dry quickly, but in this heat it becomes tacky again for a short while after drying, thats becuase it flash drys the surface, leave the trim for 24hrs, it looks lovely then, if you want you can then coat with plasti-kote laquer to protect it.

luke at zcetnter has them

Well Plasti-Kote seems to do the job just fine.

It was easy to do, I didn't even prime the bare metal and it still gave an excellent finish. certainly cheaper than using the proper Nissan part.

This could go in the FAQs.

you shoulda primed it.. trust me, thats stainless steel under there... no keyed surface and no primer means that wont take long to come off....

thats why i specified the method..

I did really scratch up the stainless before painting, which I think will help.

I know nothing was going to stay on the shiny metal the way it was.

when the passenger side peels off I will do it properly, I promise
