I've heard - Terrible Customer service and receive more complaints than any other broadband providor

Bulldog have a really bad reputation for customer service. So if you don't have a problem, you should be fine, but if you do, you could be on hold for a long, long time! :(

I believe that to go with the Bulldog service you have to sign your phone line over to them too. That seems OK when you transfer away, but I'd be a bit concerned about what happens if you decide to leave and return to another ISP - it seems unlikely that you'd be able to just migrate in the normal way.

And obviously you need an exchange where Bulldog have installed their equipment (check on http://www.samknows.com under Availability Checker and then LLU). If Easynet are also in your exchange, you may want to consider using their service instead, either using their ISP (http://www.ukonline.co.uk) or one of the resellers, e.g. http://www.f2s.com.

Having said all that, my exchange is Bulldog enabled and not Easynet enabled and I'm pretty tempted by this myself!

I am with these

They recon they will upgrade me to 8meg at the end of summer for free!?

My brothers with the same ISP and he has emailed them about it and they said all the local exchange points are being uprated at the end of summer, so could be true??

p.s. paying £15 a month for 2meg now with no probs

Oh yeah, and even if your exchange has been 'unbundled' by Bulldog, you still have to be quite close to get the full 8Mb/s. Again, look on http://www.samknows.com and see how far away from the exchange you are.

I personally cant see the point. As you are limited to the phone line quality, the web sites that you are visiting and the speed of your own PC. But I supose it's down to how much downloading you do.

err, heh heh. coming back to that thread last night

thanks for the tip Paul. their site looks interesting, i might be tempted...

I have a 4mb connection, whats needed is the upload limit needs to be unlocked, then that will make these faster connections worthwhile.

hehehe - dream on guys !

8 meg is fin on any line atm. however there is one very small factor your missing. If you 8 meg and I am 4 meg, we transfer data at my speed not yours. And I transfer data normaly at about 1 me, cos that what everyopne else has.

It's only the super nodes that youl realy see a difference, oh and if your into gaming its a must as every little bit of help you get is godly in gaming as we all know :)

I was told that the BT lines can only support upto 4meg at the mo so an 8meg connection would be pointless?

It depends on how far away you are from the exchange. There are reports of people on 8Mb/s, so I presume it must be possible! ;)

Good Point there....

Youd have to be downloading from good sites to appreciate it .....but in gaming terms like you say it would be the nutZ

yup exactly

although I could move next to the datacenter and get a 300mb connection :D

I've been with bulldog for a few years now... Terrible customer service, and an absolute nightmare during the initial connection, takes ages several of my friends actually gave up trying to connect to them.

but once you're connected they're okay. BUT since they've gone Cable & Wireless don't you have to subscribe the their phone service as well?

We're in the process of upgrading our 4 main links to 1GB. Hoorah!

You do indeed. It's not unknown for the phone service to go down as well as the ADSL, allegedly... :xxx:
