Does anybody use octane booster. Was thinking about getting some for the track day at castle combe on the 15th aug. Wondered if it was worthwhile, figured it would be good if I was pushing the car hard. But does it matter that the car is not normally running on that octane level (mapping, etc)?

Hi Dave, using Octane for your trackday will not increase power much, maybe 5 to 10 bhp,and then its got to be spot on in relation to the fuel/octane ratio,if not you actualy lose bhp, this is very common, but its offset if you are running higher boost on the day.But what it will do is give you protection against det if say you developed a problem, say like the ecu goes ape and decides to run to lean(has been known to happen)or say you have a plug playing up,and you will believe me run hot,on the limit for water and oil temp after 3 laps,so to me that would be the most important areas, firstly day before track day do oil/filter change, then add water wetter to water system, easy on the brakes, after 10 mins of too hard use they will fry, first couple of laps build up speed gradualy, last two laps start to ease down(cooling down). You may know all this, dont mean to tell you how to crack eggs like but better safe than sorry.

Have fun
