In general TVR's are renowned for being unreliable, dubious build quality. I must admit though they sound fantastic.

less you can afford the new tvr. i saw clarkson in it last night on top gear, he didnt have one bad thing to say about it and he absolutly loved it, his face when slamming it round the track was one of absolute joy!!!!! never seen him like that before

On my way to Le Mans I saw more broken down TVR's than any other car. Hasn't put me off wanting one though ....

My mate is selling his TVR Chimera 4.0.

hi mate, just responding to your thread. what do you think of your mates chimera,? would you have it? has he had lots of stress with it? any info much appreciated. :(

A mate of mine has owned several TVR's he currently has that stumpy assed thing ...his last one was griffith 500 sounded fantastic went like stink ....but broke down every week .......if you want driving fun and power a plenty try the BMW z3 coupe M spec .......TVR's look great sound awsome have loads of character , but unless you are a good mechanic and handy with a pot os super glue and a soldering iron ,i would leave well alone and enjoy them from a distance

at least the older ones have the rover engine so easier to repair/found out about. deesnt the chimera have these?

Try checking out the TVR forum. I'd heard TVRs could be unreliable but when I read their forum my jaw hit the floor. Some peoples engines need rebuilds before the 30K mark, others talk about engines throwing bearings or busting their big ends during normal driving.

Admittedly from the factory they have the best engine note of any car.

Spoke to a guy in the tyre place who has one. Apparently 70% odd were recalled for rebuild by 30k, but now they've changed them and are ok (? hmm)
