I couldnt believe my eyes. I pulled into Watford Gap services. (fatal mistake I know) But 95.9 P/L? FFS bring Iraq on line. Thats the dearest I've seen it to date. It will be cheaper to use the ZED for work soon.

LOL/wise guy Eh!

A lad I knew runs his landrover off veggy oil, has been for years! never any probs and performance the same as diesel. Has a little diesel tank for startup and shut down as the veg oil congeals when cold. Also know another bloke with a 3 yr old car (astra i think) who puts 50% veg oil in at the filling cap when he fills up. Again never any probs!

Obviously, I know nothing about this and would never do it because it's illegal etc ! But I have read that you need to be careful what type of fuel(diesel) pump the car has. Some use the fuel as a lubricant, some have an external oil feed. Veg oil is a very poor lubricant and the pump will die pretty quick. Guess it's ok if you're just running a small-ish percentage though.

Yeah I've heard those and other more drastic things. I bought a mechanics mag many months ago and it had an article about it. There are company's who do the kits now. My mate just did it himself. Think I'd be sceptical in a new car, but in an old one who cares? The mag said it was fine, they actually put it into a fairly new bmw. I like the idea of bypassing the extorcionate (sp?) fuel tax we pay here. Then again I have vowed never to get a diesel again. I've got an excort estate diesel surf wagon ! that I use as a run about but know more about petrol engines after rebuilding my old zed. Then again thats broke now so maybe I don't?

Actually, I did some research on the web about this and it sounds like it's too thin and wouldn't work well.

I guess it's a lot easier and more convenient to just carry on using normal diesel and being extorted by the Chancellor. :(
