How do i know when i've got a boost problem?

i've got only the standered boost guage and also got a boost controller fitted. I noticed the other day, i can't get the needle to reach 7psi if i'm on low, high or off.

i was under the impression that the needle would go off the dial if i was running 14psi but even when i turn the controller off it still doesn't hit 7psi but not far off. what does this mean?

Does your guage go all the way up to +7 ?

Mine did and thought it was ok, but on investigaion JD found I was in saftey boost because the wastegate solonoids were not plugged in, plugged them in, fitted chip and boost jets, now flies and goes past +7. So maybe you are in saftey boost, do an ECU check

SO how easy is it to know if you are in safety boost? And where are the wastegate solenoids?

I love my zed....but know f!ck all about mechanics...lol

The only proper way is to have an after market boost guage as the stock ones are proper poo !. IIRC saftey boost is around 7psi, full stock boost is around 9psi. (correct me if i'm wrong)

The reason my solonoids were not plugged is is there was a boost controller fitted then removed (before I owned it) and the stock loom was not plugged back in.

i've got a funny feeling that mine arn't connected, yes it almost hits the +7 not far off, it's been like this for the couple of years i've owned the car i believe. will i notice much difference in power once this is fixed?

If you've got a boost controller the stock loom will not be plugged in, the boost controller loom should be, and yes, there is a very noticable difference when you get proper full boost.
