Stupid question - engine loom connectors

The zed engine seems to be full of connectors similar to the yellow one on the temp sensor. I can cope with that one as it's fairly accessable. Some of them are alomost impossible to reach. Is there a technique for dealing with the metal sprung clip bit on these to prevent breaking the connector ...or losing the metal clip ...or both!!

Cheers

you can get replacements for these from durite ( i sourced them when i had probs) cragmay 01775 711141 is a durite dealer, durite = 01255555200 ask for the catalogue, 2 pin connector temp sensor is £2 plus vat, 3 pin ie tps £4 4 pin ie cas or afm £6, you will need to shave the locator grooves off though. its better long run to replace them all as the old ones will be brittle and corroded. also the 3 pin connectors for coil packs are $50 for 3 from coutessy nissan usa.

:nana2: I use one of those bendy magnet things to grab the metal clips then use a screw driver to push the plastic connectors up.

Top tip! I was really struggling with one of the connectors on the idle valve assembly. Just wanted to check for corrosion etc but was terrified of loosing the metal spring bit or shattering the connector.

Do you actually remove the metal clip completely or does the magnet just pull it out enough to let the clip come off with it in place?

The metal clip has to be raised at the back of the clip, a few of the injector ones are a right ballache and if your connectors are old then odds on your gonna trash your connectors....

I got so pi55ed off with them all amost breaking, I replaced the whole bloody loom!!! Porbably the best thing I ever did for my car. As has already been mentioned, make sure you have a magnet at the back and if the connectors break, dont be surprised....

Good luck..
