ok, had a really soft clutch pedal this morning - about inch and a half play before i found the bite. by the end of the journey it was starting to slip.

is it worth doing a clutch replacement myself? ive tried to do everything myself so far, but not sure where to start - how long 'should' it take, and what else is it worth replacing at the same time? new flywheel? any other supporting mods? will i need specialist tool for any of it?

looking at getting an rps kit (knew you'd get me in the end smithy!)- might as well upgrade! :)

cheers fellas! :duffer:

ok, clutch got considerably worse today - i.e i went to max live and about 40 miles before i got there, it stopped! i can now put the pedal to the floor and not get any bite at all. so have now done approx 200 miles trying to judge the revs and my speed so that i can change gear! want to see if the cables just stretched, how can i adjust the pedal? if this doesnt work then are there any other options before i save up to cross smithys palm with silver?!?

oh yeah, smithy - if it is fooked, i will prob go for one of your rps clutches with lightened flywheel and a full set of porterfield pads - whats the damage i need to save?

check the hydraulic system for leaks and bubbles,

the manaul shows you how to adjust the pedal (link under FAQ) but this is just a short term solution if the clutch is knackered,

na the aint to hard to do! i would give ya self a bout 5hr if ya workin on ya bk in ya drive, get ya car on 4 axal stands and remove in order zorstz, prop, gear linkage and any sender wires, the feed and return pipe. (use a bolt to plug them up). disconect ya starter, and slave! once thats all done, wizz out all ya bellhousing bolts ( 2 at the top are a pain) , oh and dunna forget to use a jack and place it in the drain plug as this is a well ballenced point, this will let you slide the g-box back and hold it while you change the clutch! recoment that you use a centrin tool for the disk (rps supply this with all there clutches).. othere that that it! note that on the passenger side there is a bolt half way up, there is a earth wire, dont forget to runn the bolt through this wen putting it bk geater! hope i aint missed anything!

thanks fellas! - yeah even if adjusting pedal works for now, still want to sort out something soon! bubbles and leaks, and adjusting pedal is my project for tonight then - and find a day when iv got the whole day to play and get ordering!

Sounds like low / no clutch fluid. Check reservoir. If you need to bleed, remember there are two bleed nipples and you need to do both.

Could be general leakage or slave cylinder (on gearbox housing underneath) or master cylinder (engine compartment). Check the bulkhead below the master cylinder to see if there is evidence of leak.

Good luck

no no stick a new one and be done with it :p
