I have been told that the R12 replacement that this company I am questioning is ISCEON 49. All I can find on the internet is that this is R413a that can/does replace R134a, does this sound bout right to you guys ?

Also, is there any way to do a DIY leak test ?

Cheers

Paul

I just spoke to one of my local aircon guys and he seemed to think that ISCEON 49 is a bad idea on a couple of counts, for one it knackers your compressor and for two it's got propane and butane in it. So hot engine bay plus leak equals :wack: :wack: :wack:

The same guy was touting R416a as the gas of choice to swap in when you swap the R12 out.

We really need to get a definitive answer for the best R12 replacement and put it in the FAQ. (Didn't PaulC write something up - off to check ...)

Phone this bloke 07745 021131 Norman's his name.. did mine last week for £40 and it's cold as ice. He's in Scotland but knows alot about the older car aircon systems.
