Damn... that my first reaction.... But, happy that from the announced 17 cars, 4 came finally, and, only ONE english from these 4. In total we ended only 7,

1 german car

3 holland car

1 belgian car

1 english car

THe forum user here who was there, "Topless" and another nice guy, will better tell you what happened, but it's really annoying: 'loosing' guys on the highway, forgetting passport, missing ferry, taking wrong directions....never saw that before

Oh, arrival would have been around 15:00 in namur....... real arrival was 20:15!!!

But a GREAT thnx to THOSE who came, very kind, and nice to have met them, and really a shame for those who missed or what ever, wordless.

cheers,

Blacky

ps: Pics will follow later on

They all look really good - anyone know what these wheels are ?

Ask Lymon, its his car.

ummm has topless been wearing shorts again :p

Greg did make it although stayed with Chris (Getgreddy) when he broke down unlike some which buggered off and left him at the side of the road :nono:

You should first wait of their version... i guess the one who brake down was the one who forgot hsi passport first (delaying everybud'), then in add on took a wrong road... I'd have been annoyed to if somebody fails that way, but, it's just my opinion. Also I heard that when he slowed down to stop, he didn't made any signs but just thumbs up to the front guys who can continue their trip.

Let's stop that discution and wait some serious comments :)

cheers,

blacky

The guy with his hair in a pony tail,he is from Holland and I am told that was the first car ever to come out of the Strosek factory in Germany.

Almost true, its the first SWB ever to come out of the Strosek factory.

This car belongs to my friend Marco, he will swap his JUN stroker engine in the Strosek next winter.

Re :)

Nice to see you made it all back.... Now 'bout my comment.... sorry, I just say it how I think it. Well, I know that most of the time the truth isn't accepted, but that's the way I work. I traveled a lot around europe, and can tell you that I'm always prepared. At least I got a road map in case of, then I got phone numbers and a working mobile, and I'm at least one hour in advance if I need to take a plane or anything else which needs ponctuality. Sorry, but SOME things and behaviors are simply unacceptable, that's my pov! Nothing aggressive or ironic here, just the way I think.

In namur I met TopLess and 'chunk', is it right? Very nice people, and I'm also sorry for them on what happened cause they had to wait too, not to mention what meanmachine had to wait. They did a very long trip over to here, and thanks to them again for their coming (same for the holland people of course!!!!!!!) Also TopLess appologized their lateness, there was nothing to appologise, it wasn't their fault!

Also a very big respekt to the team who drove across belgium to get chris's ZX repaired, that's a very appreciated move of course! So chris, you had finally some very big Luck in your missadventure.

So, that said, chunk, I'm sorry, but I won't appologise... I don't see any reason for that. As I said, I know that mostly people get angry after such of my comments, but... don't tell me I was the only annoyed about please.

Just let's hope that the next time, some guys here will be more prepared on such futur events, anywhere on anyplace. I won't say it enough times, I'm not angry against anybud here, not my goal anyway, but I shared my opinion, accepted or not, that's another history.

You see, that's what's not very clever. So I guess here it's like the french forum (on the 100nx one) where you just have to shut up, and let it pass. I thought we were some kind of adult ... no discution? Great pov of yours  I know it doesn't brings only friends with it, but at least, I know the person who are straight.... or not. I'm straight, and if my comments are not welcome, then I'm off.

i think what people are trying to say is that your comments were a bit harsh - i'm sure chris has been through a bad enough experience breaking a rad without beig berated because he was late - somtimes it is tactful not to say anything - sometimes these things just happen - this doesnt mean your not welcome on the forum, just think before you post.

Regards,

alex

I think people need to chill here before things start to get out of hand!!

What has happened has happened and there is nothing that can be done so just forget about it and put it down to experience.

Blacky and the rest of the guys from Germany Holland etc have every right to be pissed off at the way this whole event was organised as they took the trouble to drive all that way to meet the British cars.

Chris is bound to feel totally pissed off at what he went through he lost the other cars after taking a wrong road and the car broke down and nothing he could do about that. However thanks to Meanmachine and Lymon he was able to get it sorted.

well, for sure it was a bad experience, also I really didn't wished him to brake down, I don't wish that to anybody!!! I'm more critisising the whole thing how it went! That's what I really can not understand. Anyway, I said what I had to say... and why not posting it, it's free of discution :)

Now also the problem is that as READER you may not have read it like I WROTE it, so, or let's say it the other way around, i didn't WROTE it like you read it. Maybe it oesn't seem to make any sense, but 'writing' is quiest different than a front/front discution, where the things are clear much faster ;)

Now point me where I did a big mistake, exclude posting it, and I'll appologise... the same way you say I'm harsh, the same way around I appologize if I'm not on the right way, believe it or not.

I'm never agressive, insulting or such, I keep polite... but when my boss tells me to say 'white', and it's 'black' in real, I'll tell him 'black'. Maybe, this is not very appreciated, I know that, but, i can sleep with that.

cheers,

bs

Blacky, Im not sure if we met, many had gone home by the time we finally arrived at the circuit on Saturday evening.

Im sorry if you were delayed a few hours, although Im sure Chris was far more upset than you were. He was the one deserted at side of the road for several hours through no fault of his own !

Chris is bound to feel totally pissed off at what he went through he lost the other cars after taking a wrong road and the car broke down and nothing he could do about that.

Chris had overheating problems when we got of the boat. We all said we would take it easy, just in case. Then those at the front shot off at way over 120+ mph (200 kph) , we gave chase so not to lose them, and in doing so it blew chris's failing radiator. He could'nt make any signs to them to say he had problems, as they had dissapeared into the distance.

Greg, ChrisC and myself went back to help, and Chris had to pay a hefty fee to get the car towed. Then we spent most of Saturday on an emergency repair, until help arrived with replacement Rad :D

Despite the problems, it was still very much enjoyable.

...and to top it all off...Chris had to put up with a load of wasted Uk zed owners who had'nt been to bed yet, dismantling his tent while he slept inside at 5am  Sorry bud

Yes I know it was me who sorted it

First I want to say that, despite of all the waiting and other troubles, I enjoyed my stay and driving in France/Belgium with the Z friends from the UK, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands very much. It was nice to meet Topless and Chunk and spent the Friday evening together with them and Marco in Dinant.

I was the one at the front, average speed was 80-90 mph but we NEVER exceded 100 mph. Also no one ever give us a sign that we where driving to fast. We might have saved a lot of annoyance if the organiser of the UK crew has shared some phone numbers with us.

Good idea but nobody seemed to think of that until after the event - neither the UK or local guys...

Well I know we were doing 130+ at one point trying to catch up but after 3 or 4 miles we still hadn't caught up and presumed you'd all turned off a side road as it was near the junction for charleroi to head south.

Even if you were only doing 60, the fact is we were left miles behind and nobody bothered to wonder why.

Chris was having problems and all the UK guys knew this so we slowed down - how can we give hand signals from miles behind?

It was fairly obvious that he had stopped for some reason but he was left on his own in a foreign country for hours.

Greg and I and Legrath turned back to find him but due to diversions and closed autobahn exits it took us ages.

If the other guys had stopped and called us we could have had his radiator sorted that night but instead had to get the car towed to a safe place costing hundreds because the police wouldnt let us work on it where it was.

We drove back to the north of Belgium then returned south (maybe 60 miles round trip) to the prearranged campsite to meet everyone and make arrangements for fixing Chris's car the next morning, only to find everyone had decided to get a hotel for the night and not tell us where they were!

We could have stayed near Chris's car for the night to repair it next morning saving 2 Z's driving 60 miles.

What really pissed us all off was the fact that between breaking down in the afternoon and 11 at night, nobody even bothered to call to see where 3 Z's and 5 people had gone! Probably too busy in the pub to care.

It wasn't Chris's fault his rad popped in 35 degree heat, it can happen to anyone, and I'll know exactly who to leave behind in future.

Big thanks to the Import Arts guys and Danny for driving a long long way to get a spare rad. Really saved us there!

The main problem was the fact half our phones didn't work over there.

I checked I had international roaming set up before the trip but most didn't.

Lesson for next time:

Buy maps as soon as we get there and check the phones work first!

Anyway, we all had a great time after the 2 days wasted getting there.

Nice to meet you guys and share the love of all things Zeeeeee! LOL

...and to top it all off...Chris had to put up with a load of wasted Uk zed owners who had'nt been to bed yet, dismantling his tent while he slept inside at 5am  Sorry bud

Just to clarify that Chris Greddy is the lump in the canvas

He wasn't amused but slept quite well through it all... LOL

the best way for such trips, to make sure all are together, is that the first get a sort of walkytalkee, and the last one too. As soon as the convoy brakes, the first will know it by the last. Hope it will be better coordinated next time ;)

cheers,

bs

Just been Reading this as I was supposed to be among the people going to this and was well cheesed of I could make it. I'm sorry I missed every one and I was wondering if Blacky was infact a Yorkshire man. Him being blunt and forthright.

I understand what he's saying and being a Yorky who has spent most of his time outside of Yorkshire I know how I've tempered my comments so as not to cause offence, because even on this little Island of ours each region uses the language differently.

However I've traveled extensively across Europe and we Brits forget that its a big place. + The locals speek strangely even when we know the language. So I understand that Blacky thinks that maybe Chris was a little irresponsible to embark on such a trip without being better prepared.

However Blacky I want to point out that Chris had a lot of crap to sort out just to get there at all and put unbelievable efforts in to make it. I know because on the Wednesday night I was at his house after all the Garages had closed. Trying in vain till 22.00 hours to make a heater matrix byepass out of anything we had lying around.

You might think that if he knew he had a few problems the he shouldn't have come, but Chris C's car wasn't ready due to garage being busy, Mac's car is not finish, due to garage going tits up (I know how that feels) My car wasn't ready due to believe it or not a shit load of problems cause by a clifford alarm system or should I say installer. + several other people who had fallen out due various reasons.

Knowing how much effort certain people had put into this and not wanting to let people down Chris soldiered on. So you see Blacky, if Chris C's car had been fixed Chris wouldn't have felt that to not go would let him down. + All the others who organised it and had my car had been ready he could have come with me.

So now maybe you understand why your comments although correct will have rattled Chris.

One thing that has come from this is we need some better lines of comunication for the next time. ie phone numbers etc or things like a rolling convoy. So that 5 minutes after the last car has moved to the front then the new last car moves to the front. That way should know one pass for 5 minutes we know there is a problem and you aint got far to go back.

Anyway Chris when you want to put your new heater martix in give me a shout and I'll give you a lift with it.

I would like to draw a line under this now, I think that all that needs to be said has been said, and nothing more, unless it's constructive, needs to be said.

I hav'nt locked this thread, but will if this unwanted banter continues.

Oh Yes I almost forgot

Would anyone be up for a September meet/ Weekend thing.
