Got my stock car dyno'd today.

Not enthralled with the result- only 192 bhp at the wheels, but 241 lb/ft torque. If someone could cast their expert eye over the numbers I'd appreciate it- I just really want to know if they stack up and for some reason my engine just isn't that powerful, or whether the run itself looks dubious.

They didn't measure the other useful bits of info, like A/F ratio, etc...

Cheers...

unfortunately the A/F chart would be able to tell you loads of info, like whether youre running too rich or too lean, and also how your A/F maps out across your rev range. was it hot when you ran as it says intake temperature 30 degrees? hot weather and tubbies dont get on very well unless youve got intercoolers the size of a small island.

What is your car? Manual Automattic?

If its manual your to speed was 101 at 6800rpm. It should be more than that in 4th gear. Should be around the 140 mark

Now I'm totally stock at the moment- with the Jap ECU limitting the speed, the chappie did the run in 3rd.

In order...

Safety boost (PaulC) - Well the last time I did a diagnostic was a while ago, but it was AOK. I'll do a cursory check again, but getting boost of 5-6 bar is about right for normal boost isn't it?

A/F (SkylineDave)- hmm... maybe I'll have to get it done properly! Yeah it was roasting that day, humid too. Funnily enough, today the cat overheat lamp started flickering, so maybe I'm overfuelling. It didn't stay on, but that's one thing to look at.

SRRAE- LOL!

What does anyone thing of 3rd gear vs 4th gear. Would I be right in thinking it wouldn't affect the power readings?

Mark

why did he test in 3rd gear? 4th gear is the closest 1:1 ratio and it should be tested in that so it doesnt fake transmission losses,

1st 3.214

2nd 1.925

3rd 1.302

4th 1.000

5th 0.752

Stock Jap ECU, so I wouldn't get to peak power in 4th. :(

I should have gone for a speed converter box instead of the resistor mod! :headvswal

but getting boost of 5-6 bar is about right for normal boost isn't it?

I sincerely hope there's a decimal point missing there  5-6 bar would be.. fecking impressive!

But, no.. 0.5-0.6bar would be more like safety boost levels of boost (between 7.25 and 8.7psi) - hard to really say for sure given the resolution of the scale.. You should be closer to 10psi though (0.7bar). Like I say, using bar as a unit it's hard to be accurate.

And you really need to have a conZult hooked up to make sure it's not throwing a code 34 while you're driving but not once you've stopped & restarted, which is exactly what my old TT was doing.

Funnily enough, today the cat overheat lamp started flickering, so maybe I'm overfuelling.

Possibly over fuelling, but with a stock ECU that's unlikely unless you've got a blocked fuel pressure regulator (causing huge fuel pressures) - but even then mine didn't come on (I was running 75psi fuel pressure at one point! oops). More likely a dicky PTU or coil pack causing a cylinder to not fire properly, or maybe even slightly dicky plugs.

What does anyone thing of 3rd gear vs 4th gear. Would I be right in thinking it wouldn't affect the power readings?

From memory, it will have an effect on the readings, but I can't remember which way it'll read (over or under).. But anyway - couple of other things to check out first ;)
