Hi, I'm Matt from J-Tuner mag.

Firstly, looking at some of the comments on other posts, I must apologise. I'm sorry there have been no 300ZX features so far. But we are only on our 3rd Issue!

If you have a car that may be feature worth please feel free to send it in. We have a pretty strict policy of 'no bling', so if that's your thing, sorry. That's not to say every car is a stripped, out-and-out racer, we just don't like to feature cars based on looks alone. The amount of cars we turn away is pretty scary really.

ok, the reason they feature Skylines, Subaru's and Supras is because they are most popular and therefore make more sales aka mahoney.

This is an extremely cynical view. Contrary to popular belief; we don't have to feature these cars. It just generally happens to fall that way because of the quality of the cars. In our 1st issue, probably the most important issue, we didn't even 'feature' any Skylines, only at the back in the projects section. I won't patronise you, we know full well that we cannot please everyone all of the time.

IVE ALWAYS SAID THE PEOPLE WHO RUN THESE JOBS HAVE NOT GOT THE SLIGHTEST IDEA OR COMMON SENSE!!!!!!!!!!

Yet if someone appiled for the job and laid down a laod of good ideas theyd probably still gove the job to the person who s got a OBE in media studies.

Hi, I would like to introduce myself... No qualifications, no previous magazine or media experience; I applied on the off chance (initially for another mag), got an interview based on a small piece I wrote about my car, then got the job through sheer persistence and determination. I have been around the scene for about six years, I am a complete enthusiast and love the whole atmosphere that the Jap scene brings.

I'm sure he'd do one of those rolling road / Bruntingthorpe days on 300ZXs.

They're all lazy, journalists, and if we can offer 10-15 cars in one place at one time (his choice of time and venue, probably he'd want a week day!), he'd probably jump at the chance.

Firstly, yes we would be very interested. Secondly, all the thrashes that we have done so far have been at the weekends (as far as I know... Sundays is favourite). This ensures the best turnout - as long as it doesn't clash with shows, obviously. As for lazy... more like tired. Its been 8am to 3am for the last two weeks, then away at shows on weekends - not complaining though.

I'm sure they must be missing out on a large part of the market by not getting a more balanced car range. We need more zeds in them, and its not for lack of highly modded zeds

Abso-bloody-lutely!! Unfortunately we did say in our first issue about 'no bling' but that doesn't mean we can't get round minor Americanisms somehow. Its been really hard getting the mag off the ground as I'm sure you can appreciate. But if you think your car should be in the mag; SEND IT IN! We aren't at a point where we can afford to dedicate someone to search for feature cars. We would like to think we can get to a point where we are the first mag somebody comes to when they want a feature. But with only 2 issues under our belts we are far from that place at the moment.

I'm really genuinely sorry if some of this has sounded like a moan, its not. I just hope that some of you will accept our invitation to be featured and that I see you all soon at Brunters for a thrash (and to give me a good kicking, probably).

Please feel free to PM or email me your cars, questions or abuse :D

Thanks

Matt

Thanks for the response Matt - nice to hear things from your side of the fence and get some feedback to the comments made. I know that Chunk (aka Rich, our national events organiser) is looking to organise something with you guys. I'm sure he'll be in touch soon if he hasn't already..

Cheers

Hi Scott, we did have a problem with distribution with the first issue, possibly the second, I'm not too sure yet. Your local WHSmiths should stock it, but if you ask in any newsagents, they will be able to get it in, Future Publishing aren't exactly a small company. If you still have problems, either visit our website http://www.jtunermagazine.co.uk - follow the links to the subscriptions and you can order single copies online.

As for thrashes north of the border, we are coming up to feature a GTI-R rolling road day soon, as well as a couple of cars. I know for a fact we hope to pop up few times a year, we have been sent some mad cars from that direction, there must be something in the water up there, lol

Matt

Still looking for this mag Matt.

Hassle you newsagents to order it! Unfortunately its a vicious circle; because we are new, people won't stock it. But you can't get on their distribution lists until you sell a certain number of copies... but if you can't buy the magazine, how can it be sold?!?!

Its a nightmare to be honest at the moment.

I only say all journos are lazy as I am one (EMAP Automotive!?!) - didn't mean to be rude - sorry!

The Supra thrash at Bruntingthorpe was midweek - I was there at the time so you may be mistaken there.

Anyway, like the mag - it looks great - hope it all goes well for you guys and you get time to relax too!

Lmao, I'm sure once we are established we might be able to have a breather, no offence taken. The SFX boys play with Star Wars toys all day.

Ha ha, you got me on that one then. To be honest I wasn't around when the Supra thrash was done and have obviously been greatly mis-informed, sorry.

WH Smiths do it :D but you could also subscribe there was a link on here some where, i am sure Chunkle will put it up

hi mate great mag shame you do a no bling policy

keep up the good work and dont go down the route like laxpower :nono:

you will be seeing my car in jap performance soon as they want to feature it as well as banzai mag. laxpower keep e-mailing but i want it in a jap mag :hyper:

"NO BLING" ah but my bling can travel faster than most cars on the road.My Zed is defo not a sheep in bling clothing.Ask your self this, what would you sooner fit on your car? A lump of iron as a strutt brace or a nice chromed billit alloy one. They would both perform perfectly well, but I think I can be comfident in saying that you would pick the bling one.Bling to me is making more of what is there already and giving it a more asthetic appeal........Vinz "The Bling Miester"

Nice one Matt.

All we're looking for is some honest opinions from/for true car enthusiasts.

Couldn't agree more. That is more of a tidy up than 'bling' though, to be honest. Bling is a 1.5ltr Civic with 'Lambo' doors, chrome spinners and more stickers than a Blue Peter bring and buy sale.

Okay, now I've looked at the whole car I see what you mean.

so define bling for us matey so we know whether to send you pics or not..

Ok, i'll try; Big chrome wheels, tribal graphics, shopping/wish lists, massive bodykits, unneccessary aftermarket bolt-ons. More show than go, that can mean big power cars too.

Chrome under the bonnet is acceptable, especially if you have a huge amount of power.
