 how hard is to take the water pump out and put it bank on? do you need a garage for that or you can do it your self?

You can do it yourself if you are halfway sensible with a set of tools, though it does involve removing the rad, the water pipes, the drive belts (fan, alternator, powersterring) and the upper and lower cam covers.

Do a search on Cambelt replacement, or waterpump and follow the first half of the first, or all of the second :)

I did mine myself.

You dont have to lift the car up if you are a small fry like me.

allow a half day and make sure you have all the right bits first.

Make sure its not the 2 small water to head feed hoses above the water pump - a leak from these looks like the water pump and its very common at this age. Use a mirror and torch to have a look

i've just changed them 2 hoses few day ago because one of them was busted and was fine the firs day but now i can't see any leaks coming from them so i think is the water pump. i am going outside to take off the water pump now.....:(

yes, you do, a couple of the lower bolts on the water pump are hidden by the lower cover

did my water pump a couple of weeks ago pully wasnt that hard to get off but while it was off i replaced it with a light pully :D

Darn it, is it a pig of a job getting the pulley wheel off?

can be,airgun with a 27mm makes life easier, failing that wrap an old belt around the viscous fan pully wheel and loop it when you fit breaker bar or extension bar on to the bolt,by turning it will pull the belt tight around the pully aiding removing it,if its a manual put it in gear and it will lock the engine off

then you need a 2 or 3 leg puller to remove crank pully, make sure on refitting you re insert the woodruff key at a tilted angle so it slides on to the crank pulley securing it,also make sure it goes on straight otherwise it will cause unbalance to the belts and crank itself not good!

best to just follow the write up on tt.net
