Hi everyone. I am about to venture into changing my steering wheel. I have taken the old one off and noticed that where the wires are for the horn and C/Control are there is a disc with loads of slots with one larger slot. I have no idea what this disc is for I can see it runs through a module or something that the wires are attatched to. Can anyone tell me what this is please and is it ok to totally disconnect it?

Thanks for your help.

i'm not 100% sure but that ring with the slots in is to do with the hicas (rear wheel steering) it basically tells the rear wheels to turn, i cant remember which trader it is but there is a special steering wheel boss kit to keep the hicas and cruise control working and they are £95+vat from memory hope this helps kev

Vincentio that is the hicas disc, the big slot needs to be at twelve o'clock and your wheels need to be straight. If you are not fitting the special boss which includes hicas link and cruise control buttons,I dont really no unless you are doing away with both........Vinz

I will take a pic and post it BRB. I was a bit worried that it might be the HICAS.

LOL. Fook knows BM. I just took it off from the column after the steering wheel came off 4 screws holding it in place the side in the pic is the dash side when fitted?

does the front of it look the same as mine in the other thread?

and whats that plastic box with the leads on it?

the first pic is the same as mine BM. looking from the seat. I am more worried now that if I just leave the HICAS thingy off what will happen? I assembled it and spun it slowly but there was no movement in the rear wheels at all?

I am not at all bothered about the C/Control I am going to re-locate that in the centre consol or the horn I can get that to work its just that HICAS thing.

Thanks Vince

Thinking out loud?

I could strip the old wheel down and have the new boss welded to it and then I wont have to loose anything?

I only paid £35 for the boss and its a collapsible job so it wouldnt be that hard to do?

:headvswal :smash:
