front wiper problem

need some advice please.

my front wipers..

when set on internittent it will work the nstop for about 10 sec or so then move then stop again, etc...

however on the normal sweep lft/rht it works fine and doesnt stop.

is this a relay problem or do i need to change the motor/s?

hopefully if i have to change i can get them from one of the traders here, new or recon, prefer new

thanks as usual.

just need to clarify it isnt that they are working intermittently its as though they stick or just stop and then they start again

Do you mean they are stopping in the middle of the windscreen?

yep the stop in different places on the screen..

i think it may be the relay im going to pull it out and check it on one of my oscilloscopes today, then i will check the pod out as well before i think about the motors.

i spoke to andyz so i can buy replacements from him..

god my shopping list is getting bigger ;) but its all in a good cause.

it could be the relay (located between the suspension turret and the bulkhead on the drivers side)

or,

most wiper motors have a contact plate and brushes to tell the relay when the motor has returned to the stopped position. if these contacts were dirty or worn, the relay might cancel until it gets a bump and starts again.

id check the relay first its easiest to get to.
