 Hi Chaps,

I've heard a lot of banter regarding de-cat pipes and was wondering if they were a good idea or not. Yes it would be nice to have a little more horse power and let the engine breath a little better but is it gonna put to much strain on my standard turbos? My car has been pampered all its life and I'm worried about harming the old girl.

Your thoughts please gentlemen

Cheers GLENN

BlackMagic what do you mean by "divorced manifolds" ??

take a look at this thread....

http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=424375&postcount=30

the manifold splits the air channels......then rejoins them later in the manifold creating a turbulence factor which actually increases the speed of the air-flow even though you might think it would slow it down... :)

I've been playing with turbo cars for a couple a years. Saab 99 turbo was the first "The black James bond one with the slotted alloys" (Showing my age now) fitted with a strait pipe and was a laugh as the motor of the day was the XR3i 1600

When I De-catted My Zed All I Did Was Knock Out The Honeycomb Cat Stuff From The Cats And Reffitted Them Hope This Was Ok??

blackmagic and greg... I can see you :)

ehhhh expalin :slap:

Hi FASTREDZ

Point I was making was. Other turbo motors I've played with as long as you can get enough fuel in "via ecu" you can do what you like with the exhaust after the turbo as long as you can stand abit a noise :)

Ok I know it works. My car sounds so lame on the standard pipe

I'm not going to pay £300 for a bit of SS 3inch pipe 3 mtr's long. So I'll make my own let you know how I get on .. "Just thought someone would have tried it before me"

I'm talking about a full SS system rebuild with 3" pipe front to back. Pipe will cost about £20 .. I'll fix it :)

divorced downpipes *cough*

The manifolds from the turbos were very hard to get off..bolts seized on and threads broke when undoing them..you might be lucky and they come undone easily but be warned..if not its a right fooker of a job :headvswal

if you want to avoid this nightmare then get one of these sets.....sooooooooooooooooo much easier:-

De-Cat pipes

Yes , is it worth de-catting a NA???????

when de-catting what happens to the pipes that go to the cat (the two rubber ones one each side) and is there anything else you have to do. i know about replacing the pipes but what about things like emissions and the sensors for the cats
