 Hi Chaps,

I've heard a lot of banter regarding de-cat pipes and was wondering if they were a good idea or not. Yes it would be nice to have a little more horse power and let the engine breath a little better but is it gonna put to much strain on my standard turbos? My car has been pampered all its life and I'm worried about harming the old girl.

Your thoughts please gentlemen

Cheers GLENN

i did it to mine and didnt give a shit what it did to my turbos, it just gives me an excuse to tell the missus when i want to upgrade my tubbies. It gave me a hell of alot more power and my car ran great , that was untill that extra power killed my clutch, but now i have an uprated clutch and lightened and balanced flywheel, winner. Just go for it :D

If the seals go when de-cated then they required replacing anyway. De-cating removes a small percentage of backpressure. 99% of TTs never have problems after removing the cats. Only you know the condition of your car, so at the end of the day its your call

deffo dcat mate loads more fun for hardly any more cash. Dont forget the boost controller or boost jets and ecu upgrade too !! major bang for buck !!

Kez Do you mean an exhaust flamer kit? i am about to De-cat, wondering about flamer kit, do not know if work very well and what/where to buy.

here,s a fella who drives back home iff its gunna rain so i would call that over-pampered mate :D but sitting in my garage is a set of the mother of de-cats pipes (thanks dave C of petrolheads nw) and as soon as time dictates there getting fitted to release them emission strangled ponies--fvck the turbos

:D De-cat.........if you look after the car it will look after you ;)

ive always fancied de-catting but was worried about the tubby seals. is there anything else needed except the pipes?

Yea a wrench :D and a spare 10 mins

ive got a set of de-cats sat waiting to go on but scared to fit until ive got some cash together for a set of new uprated tubs

i dont want to fit and down the road smoke pours out  and iam booked in for car shows and mag photo shoots till winter

if you de cat your zorst you should get some nice flames without a kit :D when i de catted my skyline it kicks out some monster flames, the only down side is that you end up with a slightly char grilled bumper

I have sports cats from Janspeed 50% less backpressure it made a difference and i am hoping when my tubs arere-vamped that they will last almost 4ever !!

Na mate.. The turbo vein system takes the crack out of the exhaust pulse. Alot of turbo tractors have no boxes on them from the factory. I know the dynamics of it just wondered if anyone had tried it.. Or am I gona be the first :)

iv heard a TT engine running without an exhaust and its bloody loud, but if you give it a go let us know the results

Ive had a lot of trouble getting them fitted but the full de-cat with divorced manifolds have made a huge difference on mine ;)

Only had them fitted today but have done plenty of miles since...there are 3 reasons why i like them:-

1) The power at the top end is extended instead of tailing off at about 6000rpm it goes right on upto and probably past 7000rpm.

2) The response all throughtout the rev range is increased

3) Spool up has been reduced to a bit over 2000rpm instead of 3000rpm.

But best of all it now sounds like the car it should and not a muffled sound.

BIG Thanks to all @ ZTECH who worked into the early evening on a saturday to get it done

After the turbo's the gas flow consept is in the bin anyway "just get it out a here" fastest is best if you can stand the noise.. Please note the inlet side "ECU" has to know whats going on to be able to keep the fuel air mixture correct
