Well got the 300 off the drive this weekend to wash it ready for its transit from my house to the girlfriends seeing as my place looks like finally selling this week.

Drove it about 15 miles or so and it felt great to be back in it again, sooooo, yesterday decided to pull my finger out and get on with sorting it out once and for all.

Needs back tyres for starters so spent most of the morning ringing round for BF Goodrich Profilers but no fooker does them anymore. Apparently BF used to be owned by Michelin which meant that they broke out of only selling tyres for the 4x4 market. But now they have been bought by some company in the States and the supply has dried up. F\/ck!!!

So not to worry, getting Avon ZZ3's instead at 160 squids a corner so about the same price as the BF's. Got them on my MR and TBH not a bad tyre.

So getting one this weekend and the other the week after.

Nice to feel like something is happening with the SHED-X again! :D

So now that you've been driving around in the MR2 and whatever else, what is it about the Z that you are glad to be in it again? Just curious, as you seem to have a very hot & cold relationship with your Z.

excellent news, so will it be at JAE this year, I mean actually on the stand, at the same time as everybody else ;)

Wooooooohooooooooo!!

Bout time the timster mobile was on the road again!!

What is it that I like about the Z over the MR? Have owned my Z since October 2000 IIRC, have thrown a third world country debt at at in that time so it's now come to either a) fix it and get shot or b) just fix it and drive it again.

Scenario a) is a no-brainer as it seems stupid to spend 20-25K or so on a car that's now probably worth about 5K in mint condition to sell on. So scenario b) it is, I like the MR-2 for what it is which is a two seater, mid-engined rear wheel drive sports car with a turbo. Have always wanted one so when I had the cash I thought why not and bought one.

My new house has a huge garage which is where the Z will live, it will purely be a weekend driver.

Oh and I like it when it looks like it's been vandalised which technically it has and kids in hick Welsh villages go "Woowwww!" when they see it roll past! 'ave it!!! :D

Still probably end up getting an RX7 sometime in the future... ;)

A good friend of mine has bought a non runner 1992 rx7 for £1.5k, engine and tubs knackered. He is doing it up and it will be a bit of a stunner when he has finished it as he is uprating everything including engine, bigger single tub, brakes and suspention. Nice choice BTW.

*faints*

Fuggering hell Timski.. suppose that means I have to fix mine now! :wack: :wack:

You in Reading now then during the week? (going by your avatar panel thingy)

Hi Az, yeah mate and looks like I'll be here until September now as just been extended for another 3 months.

Yes this DOES mean that YOU need to get yours sorted aswell!!! ;)

Clarkey San, no mate it will not be at Billing...can't be @rsed but will try and make it to Trax instead.

Cool - if I was actually down here during the week I'd suggest a pint.. maybe when this gig in Sheffield ends..

Heh :) I think I may be kidding myself that that's ever gonna happen :( I can't seem to physically earn enough each month to pay my bills and credit card bills (which are huge, after not earning anything for 12 months) let alone start clearing them and save some money toward fixing the car.. Think I need to find a permie job and then get an IVA to get out of debt - but I can't find any jobs around here that both pay enough to get me by and are open to someone with my skills & qualifications.. It's certainly a tough industry these days!

So what are you doing in Sheffield then, contracting?

Market is good at the moment some monty money out there to be earnt. ;)

Yup - contracting doing web dev work, fairly low money though at £20p/h - luckily they're picking up the tab for the B&B (well, they would be if they ever paid their fscking invoices!), but it still means working 10hr days to make it worth it..

There is? Where :D Do tell, I could do with paying off £23k's worth of credit cards.. some time before I'm retired :)

Where's a good place to find the contract work anyhow? I get daily emails from Monster (which are always pretty useless) and one of the other IT recruitment sites, but those all seem to either be really low paid jobs (£18-20k) or jobs requiring a degree and 99 years experience of .Net or some other daft requirement, but paying £60k p/a :)

Jobserve.com

Where I've got most of my contracts from bud. ;)

How's Sheffield by the way, my second contract was there working for BT on Rockingham Street.

Hmm.. Think I already get a daily mail from JobServe, or was it JobSearch.. I'll try there..

Sheffield isn't too bad - the B&B is a bit sh*te, and I'm right next to Spearmint Rhino.. lol..

And they've just paid their invoices, and informed me that they're no longer paying my hourly rate during break times - and regardless of what you actually work, they will always knock 1.5hrs off per day for breaks.. Nice! Means I'll be doing all that travelling for £130/day.

Think I might tell them where to poke that...

Cheeky feckers!!!

Yeah some quality action in Sheffield as I remember it, hairy legged hookers on every street corner with thigh length boots on during rush hour in the evening...nice! :D

So what does your Z need to sort it out then?

Cheeky feckers!!!

Yeah! I wouldn't mind so much if they'd done it to start off with, but they paid the first 3 invoices without any quibble.. When you knock off fuel to get there, that makes my daily rate £120/day..

Is it normal, though, to not pay for the hours covered by lunchtime? You've been contracting longer than me, so I figure you're a good person to ask :)

Lol - can't say I'd noticed it.. but then all I tend to do is go back to the B&B of an evening and do more work (there's free WiFi.. well.. there's an open WiFi access point nearby - dunno who's it is  ).

So what does your Z need to sort it out then?

I need to find out where the giant oil leaks are coming from - which means (at the very least) stripping the front off (cambelt, back plates etc), and if I still can't find it.. pass.. heh :) There's the rust on the rear arches to be sorted too, and the tailgate is totally rotten (I mean, you can stick your hand through it!), and that little bit of fuel hose that joins the two rails pisses fuel out at a phenominal rate

But apart from that..

LMAO :D

Just minor stuff then mate!

Fill the rust holes with filler, fit new fuel line pipe and don't ever put anymore oil in...go on JML or that dodgey channel on Sky and get some of that stuff they show all the time that allows engines to run oil free! ROFL  Sorted matey. ;)

Lol :D Sounds like a plan..

Think I edited my post to add in a question while you were replying btw - do any of the places you've contracted for knock off an hour for lunch from the times you've worked?

I guess some places will, but I'd have expected them to tell me when I started - unless it's an industry standard thing :S

Yes mate that's standard practice, you only get paid for the hours you work. ;)

Just tell them on your timesheet that you had negat luncheon or better still cain them for an extra few hours a week to make up for the long lunches down the nuclear sub. :D

Bugger.. that makes their rate even worse :( Well.. I guess it works out to a decent amount over a year, but still.. bugger.

Feck, I want my old job back.
