How are your projects coming on? any problems?

what is the potential upper rev limit for the v8 engines you are using?

So far so good.

Got the intake system and ECU sorted now.

Cams should be getting priced up soon, bottom end is at the engine shop being bored out as we speak, heads are gas flowed. Waiting on Hi comp forged pistons and steel rods to keep the internal mass down.

Upper rev limit - in AUS they're running to 9500rpm in stock cars, but I'm not sure I want to run that much cam, likely to try to aim for peak power somewhere around 8000.

At the moment it's doing a superb job of being a glorified paperweight! :D ;)

But seriously, I'm concentrating on getting the bodywork finished whilst putting money into the engine kitty and hoping I don't have any nasty suprises when it's eventually stripped. Going up to Alunox in Wrexham with John in a couple of weeks to sort out the dry sump which should be interesting.

what sort of problems are there fitting the v8 you have? different mounts? I take it the gearbox fits ok, I guess thats the easy bit and then you need to get the electrical stuff wired up>

No, the manual gearbox needs an adaptor plate. If you really wanted to you could use a Z32 slushbox, as it'll bolt onto the Q45 bellhousing, but that would just be silly! Mounts need made. All the coolant pipework is custom

With mine, I want to site the block as far back and down as possible, so using a dry sump system on it, so that needs fabbed + tank sited (possibly in the battery location) pump will go where the air con pump sits normally.

Intake won't fit under the bonnet, so need to make a new inlet manifold (I'm using independant runners with individual throttles).

Exhaust manifolds in typical nissan style are poor, so having nice 4-1 collectors done. Don't think the stock ones would fit.

Too much hassle to use the stock ECU etc, particularly with IR intake, so using emerald ECu which needs wired up and mapped. It's pretty simple, as it only really needs CAS, TPS, lambda and temp sensors. Biggest problem is that only 4 ignition drivers, so need to fire wasted spark, but just pairing the coil primaries up will fry the drive circuitry, so need to use OEM PTU's then pair the inputs.
