I'm getting p***ed off with this problem,

here's the story,

1/..Converted to manual(big mistake) fitted ACT clutch unit including spiggot bush and had flywheel skimmed to eliminate any chance of any problems(so I thought)

ran car seemed ok but got bad clutch judder, slipped clutch a bit did 100 miles seems worse when warm.

2/ removed gearbox removed clutch inspected checked runout on flywheel was 0.010" had it reskimmed and checked runout on engine within 0.002" ok

refitted box.

3/ ran car and clutch judder still there did 250 miles and still there worse when warm but still boincing car about

4/ removed gearbox and fitted another new clutch from ACT and fitted lightweight flywheel to eliminate anymore chances of judder

also replaced all bearings in gearbox whilst in bits

started car up clutch seemed fine test drove ..seemed fine took it out again,,,,,,,,,,,,and judder re-appeared just as bad Am gonna torch it f**k it

THE QUESTION???? is there a problem with ACT clutches or am I unlucky, as I can't think of anything else that would cause it and its getting me very p**sed off

help

Richard

I've got an ACT paddle clutch and Fidanza flywheel and there is a bit of judder as you slip it to pull away but I find you don't notice it if you light up the tyres...

clutch judder normally means the plate is warped.

I found with my ACT clutch you had to do a real hard launch now and again and the clutch was fine for a week or so then abother hard launch :)

surely that can't be right , or am I expecting too much for over £300 worth of clutch??

Well i had the 6 puck clutch in mine, which was rated upto about 600 bhp and i was told that the clutch was not made for tootling around town and actually needed some decent work to perform at its best?? Try giving the car a few heavy launches and see if the clutch judder feels any better?

I get this with my BMW .. I know, not the same but the guy at Munich Legends said it was the clutch and how they make them .. said it was really common .. only when warm though .. pisses me off on a motorway drive when there is a tailback .. usually use second .. can't pull away properly in first .. JUDDER JUDDER ..

I have a very similar clutch with a lightened fly wheel. I get judder every time I pull away, I was warned about this prior to purchasing the kit. As my clutch is a heavy duty type also I have learnt to live with it as it never slips and performs well. Think after a while you get used to it and tend not to notice it as much, I did.

PS..It also chatters when peddle is depressed

RPS Max series organic is what yer want fella :D run this in mine and she's sweet.

6 pucks, whilst they can hold marginally a bit more torque, do wear out quicker and cost more to replace the disc than an organic one.

cheers

i may be wrong but are all the prongs straight on pressure plate on clutch,, as if any of these are bent or weak they cause clutch judder too , and as andy p says , check engine mountings as well precaution

this is deffo not an engine mounting judder believe me , u would think the clutch cover was like a banana it bounces the transmition chronically oh and I put the ACT clutch kit on the standard flywheel after having it skimmed for true ness and still same, thats the only reason I put a new flywheel on to eliminate the cahnce of judder again with a second new clutch from ACT, luke at Zed centre has been very good with replacing the clutch but I think am gonna upset him now this one is the same,I 'm trying to do everything possible to make sure nothing else can cause it but it looks like the clutch.

Smithy, the only reason I didn't buy a rps clutch was because I was told they are remanufactured and ACT are brand new, price about same so apart from changing the gearbox for another one ad well HELP???

ONE thing for sure the prongs are not bent, i always make sure I don't catch them when fitting
