petrol leak in engine!

petrolleak_.jpg

ok. hope that picture link works.

basically ive been fiddlin. and i was unscrewin/re-screwin these screws which i think relate to some fuel line used durin start up. and a bit of petrol seeps down from the screw i just unscrewed. you can see the screw in question on the picture - i unscrew it and there is a trickle of petrol down it, and then thats it. i am partially shittin myself thinkin 'hold on a minute, there's petrol leakin down onto the engine and stuff'

anyone any ideas - could this be related to my dead cyliner problem - the leak is above the cyliner in question,

anyone any ideas before i blow up my 'third party' only zx.

?

cheers. ben

Ben you only get 5/10 for this effort and a must concentrate more in class!!! biggrin.gif

Look at the diagram on the your other thread fella, that is yer fuel damper and what are you doing unscrewing things on the fuel rail???

Mate, you need to check what peeps have mentioned first before you start dismantling the entire engine bay! wink.gif

Trust me, PTU or it will be something to do with the wiring loom which is your coil connectors mate.

Ring Jeff first thing tomorrow and ask him if he can help you out...that's best advice before you upset something you shouldn't wink.gif

yeah sorry sir, i got a bit impatient. i got one connector off the ptu, but i couldnt get the underside one off to clean - plus i had no electrical cleaning spray stuff - so i got annoyed and decided to fiddle - yes , i know, - not a good idea.

so basically what your sayin, mr.t. , is that the reason why there was a small fuel leak.......i mean the precise scentific reason as to why petroleum escreted itself from the location of the fuel line uim us is because...... som idiot muppet [me] fiddled with it.

right.

i think i better go to bed.

thanks, ben [fiddler]

Ring Papa Z a.k.a. Jeff TT tomorrow mate! wink.gif

thats alright aaron, it just makes my topic look more popular anyway!

oh and in reply to your message

no it aint related to your dead cylinder

and please... do the screw back up biggrin.gif

This probably isn't relevant but I thought I'd mention it anyway seeing as the similarities are so striking.

I had a fuel leak a while back which stank inside the car. It turned out to be exactly the hose that you've pointed out on your diagram. It leaked fuel into the injector plug and I developed a misfire as well on this cylinder, perhaps due to this.

Fixed the hose, cleaned up the injector contacts and everything was honky dorey again.

Thought it was worth a mention.

...reminds me of the time when my brother-in-law turned up in his Saab complaining of a petrol smell. He'd driven about 30 miles. We opened the bonnet and there was a large pool of petrol on top of the hot engine. It was bubbling like boiling water. We passed comment (oh-f**k) and walked away leaving the bonnet open. It eventually evaporated - and we replaced the fractured fuel line.
