to replace the dipstick tube without removing/lifting the engine?

the tube runs behind the exhaust manifold, so you'll have to remove that first.

A lot of work if you want to do that without lifting the engine.

 

Although you could cut it in several pieces and pull it out, but you won't be able to put a new pipe back the way it's supposed to.

if i remember rightly myself and shunter managed to install one after we had already put the gearbox in, it was very fiddly but it can be done and that was without removing anything.

so with everything in place it can be done - sound :)

I got bruised and scraped knuckles last night pissing round with it.

I cant see how but I know now I can keep trying :)
