hi all, firstly its a tt, i have a chip & boost jets (not sure what sort, whatever z world use), free flow filter & exhaust (not brand makes). what is the max safe(ish) power i can build on the standard internals, dont mind fitting turbo's etc if necessary, is there a good series of stages to build good power or is it a case of buy all at once, then fit?

thanks in advance for any help/advice, steve

thanks for the good brake info, i realise there is a knock on effect with power upgrades to a lot of the cars components, its the max power from the standard pistons & rods etc im unsure about, and a list of good known components to get it to this max, basicly i want a build plan to stick to, also does the ecu have to be replaced, or can it be 'live mapped' ? & why dont i see anyone useing 2 chargecoolers?

i know theres a lot of experienced people on here  , please help!

thanks again steve

There are a few cars in the US which have said to produce 500bhp on stock components which I think is probably streatching the truth.

Changing nothing internally, you can probably produce 400bhp at the hub. But the pistions will be getting close to the limit.

The clutch will last a few days at that power and if you have an automatic, that will be close to its limit too.

To get that power you will need.

Airfilter, Smithys dual will be better,

Boost controller, its better to have an electronic on and jets,

Performance Exhaust and decat pipes,

Uprated Intercoolers, this is often over looked.

Lightened pulley,

Lightened flywheel (This is not so important)

New ECU chip. The SE one is good for that power. Preferably you want a Piggy back system so it can be changed again as and when needed.

But all of this is pontless if the engine is not in good condition. Have you done a compression test?

thanks for the link z32king, srrae, its a manual gearbox & i rebuilt the engine about a year ago, even had the stock tubs recond, so that should be ok, this is the sort of info im looking for,

thanks steve

It all depends on the age and condition of your standard internals.

The most important thing with these cars is having someone who really does know theses cars very well working on , or assisting you when doing any work on the motor.

What SRRAE say's is true in as much as if the motor is an unknown quantity then beefing up the unit with new big ends, small ends, forge pistons etc would be wise if your going to run more than 15psi. However if the engine is a mint low milage (remember most of these cars are pushing 15 year old and got god knows what history) and the mapping is bange on. ie no denting to destroy pistons etc then I don't see why 500bhp couldn,t be attained with reasonable relyability.

However there are a lot of ifs there and if its not mint the rebuild bill will be slightly higher that doing all the work befor you start tunning. Also don't think big ponys come cheap. Thats why super car are usualy £70,000 +

thanks, ive used forged pistons, steel rods etc on another car we have, so know how dear these parts are! & thats why i want to avoid it if poss. dont anyone use chargecoolers on 300tt's?

3G big brake kit is worth a look with porterfield pads its a good set up for a lot less than brembo's

aghhh but they are actually brembos if you look on the outside rim of the disc

no not really theres more in the US who have

totally agree with the above

engine health is more important to get right like for EG you have very clean water/coolant in the rad systym and its flushed and checked regulary, these engines are so delicate overheating can warp the heads in seconds and the water temp gauge is usless the 300 has a very low tolerance to overheating!good quality oil and changed and checked regulary!

suspension check all bushes shocks! all that power and no handling is usless

brakes check brake pistons and seals for failure or seizure free up seized pistons replace seals, some good pads braided lines and new discs will help you stop LOL

Then new turbos,l flywheel, decent clutch, injectors, intercoolers, decent pistons then :hyper: not in that paticular order

To be truthful most people once they have reached that level of performance, find they get more enjoyment from the car if they turn their attention to brakes and suspension. It gives you more confidence to use the power in the car.

R33 Vspec brakes are fab for 600 notes and uprated anti roll bars with strut braces, are great value for money mods.
