have had a noise which i thought was behind my dash... it turned out to be the bonnet rattling/squeeking at the hinge.

on closer inspection there is a little bit of play about 1-2 mm in the pivot point of the hinge ...tried the usual wd40 trick but it returns after a couple of minutes help... is the any way to tighten the hinge up of disasemble it to put plastic washers in ect

I had this same rattle too, sounded like it was coming from behind dash. Anyway later found it was the passenger side bonnet hinge, the pivot bolt had worn causing play which allowed it to chatter especially at higher speeds.

TBH your better of getting a replacement hinge maybe off one of the traders with no play in it... :duffer:

cheers Jon.

Its not the hinge it's the catch.... If you look, I bet the plastic coating on the bonnet side of the latch is worn. If so it will rattle and squeek..

This noice drove me mad for fookin ages before i knew were the noise was coming from, then i wrapped tape around the catch problem solved.

Stick a bit of insulation tape round the catch it will stop.

 Ok I think we've established it is the hinge and not the catch :slap:

cheers Jon..
