Hi guys,

This is my first post on this site so id like to begin with a big 'hello' to you all. :hyper:

Now down to business. After 6 months/3000 miles of Z love its time for a well earned oil change. Ive no idea wheter to use semi or fully synthetic, let alone what brand to buy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys.

Scott.

I personally use Magnetec 5w/40-now the weathers warmer, will be changing to 10w/40.

Basically use a good quality fully synth bud,you won't go far wrong!

and welcome! :D

i use millers or castrol 10-60 a good 10-40 is fine though

Only if you get the new 5w50.

I have used the 0w40 in my Supra before the ZX and it seemed too thin for some reason, the oil pressure when hot was never as high as I felt it should be.

I use a 5w40 (Shell Helix) in the ZX and it's just fine, which is confusing as the "40" bit means it should be the same visco as Mobil 1 when hot

If your car is modified though use a thicker oil like 10w50 or 10w60 as others have mentioned earlier.

Oh yeah, many thanks to Scott the Newbie for opening a very big can of worms :smash:

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

yeah thats wot im using at the mo 0w40 mobil and i notice my oil pressure a bit low. Alough a lot of people have told me that z's run a bit low on oil pressure anyway..Is this true?

No, more likely the sender unit to the guage is fekked :x:

Mine idles at just below the first (15psi?) line when hot, shows anywhere between the 1st mark and middle mark during normal driving and almost at the middle mark at 70-90mph in top.

Booting it hard at motorway speed (kick-down say 80-120 o/d off), it goes up between the middle and the 3rd mark.

I fitted a new OEM sender unit last year.....

Richard :)
