She started on the third attempt after 8 months!!!

Update...

Well guys, thsi weekend I toped her up with the finest fluids. Fitted the apexi BOV's (Thanks AlexC) and Apexi PPI(Thanks Danny) and after a bit of coughing and spluttering she finally started up on the third attempt. :hyper: :hyper:

The noise was incredible what with having no centre section and the new de-cat pipes on!!!

I dont think the cars running right though, although I couldnt tell due to the racket the pipes were making. My conzult hasnt arrived yet but should do this week (I hope) so that I can find out whats happening with the engine.

By the sounds that I could make out, the injectors are all working fine (Nismo 555's) but I could smell unburnt petrol very badly and the garage stunk of petrol. Loads of back firing if I revved it even slightly and it'd die before it started to increase the revs.

The rev counter isnt working??!? and my Apexi oil pressure and water temp guages that I installed dont seem to be either?!? But thats easy enough, I'll take them off and now its running it'll be easier to test them whilst fitting.

I do have an issue with the clutch though, I bled this with a friend and loads of air cam out but the clutch still feels useless and it isnt pushing the clutch release bearing lever?? I think more bleeding is needed and if that doesnt work then I will have to look at a possible leak??

Apart from that, I was amazed it started so soon what with the intensive work the car has undergone.

So, come on Danny, get that conzult out to me so I can diagnose any issues and I pick my my new centre section up this week, that should tame it down a bit......

I'll keep you all posted with this weekends developments!! Hopefully driveable.......

nice one mark, hopefully all worth it in the end,and the feeling you did it all yourself ;)

Nice one, you must know your zed to fit all the stuff you listed. Have you uprated the engine internals or are you going to keep them standard?

Thanks guys....

Homebrew, The internals for now are standard, I believe the standard bottom end is good for 600bhp, or thereabouts, do no need to uprate the internals just yet.

After having a good chat with John Dixon last night he is going to supply me a chip to suit the new injectors I have so that should cure the running rich problem. That'll go on this weekend with the new stainless mid section and hopefully that'll cure the running issue. In regards to the Clutch, after speaking to Jeff last night also, he advises that the clutch slave cylinder could be jammed open with some air behind it, so a pair of molgrips should sort that too! I do believe I might be back on the road this weekend!! :hyper:

And your right, I would like to say that I now know the car really well, and I'm not afraid anymore to do any job on it.

In a strange way, I am looking forward to taking the engine out next year to get rid of loads of extras on the car that I really dont need.

Have you seen under the bonnet of mac's car, simplicity at its best.... :)

Excellent, I'm glad your enjoying your project! I am thinking of taking on a car project next year. I would like to buy a non running SWB TT manual, hire a garage or shed on a farm, lighten the car and then turn it into a 600bhp monster. I haven't got past the thinking stage yet though.

lol, I know what you mean mate.

After this project is finished, whenever that may be, I am gonna get a SWB N/A as a daily driver adn see hwo that goes... :)

They are cheap to buy now after all! :)
