Group buy on Intercoolers circa £360

I have just spoken with Forge Motor Sports http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/motorsport/products/intercooler.html who make Intercoolers amongst other things.

Look at the one for the Sunny FM INT -GT12, it's huge.

The guy there reckons he could make a large intercooler for the 300zx for about £360 inc vat!!

He would need a drawing or a car to copy one from. He can also make the pipes etc.

Who is interested and who could help with the drawing or has an intercooler upgrade we could copy?

If he has a car he can copy he can have it fully specified with all the right connectors etc, and for suitability on the 300, AND, if we get 5 people it will be about £320 inc vat!!

Every other intercooler I have looked at is over a grand inc vat.

Come on Guys, if you want to run bigger boost this is a must, and at those prices...

Grant

P.S. Warren, you have an HKS Intercooler don't you? biggrin.gif:

yes indeedy i do lol. Nice to mention it now biggrin.gif

The only problem with front mount intercooler is you need a different front bumper. I would love a front mount.

Can he give guarentees as to warrenty and all that?

Cause thats a very good price.

I could not even get them from S.A. for that price.

What will he charge for two bigger ones like i have.

What kind of price, might we be looking at for some uprated versions of the standard twin intercooler setup? (Something similar to the HKS upgrades)

£300 each???

Would a front mount fit under a Strosek front bumper?

Don't know all the answers to your fitting questions but maybe a trip to his place with some standard cars and some with front body kits.

Warren, he has off the shelf ones for £205 inc vat.

They give a lifetime guarantee!!

Grant

well then what the f#%$% are we waiting for, ill send mine down if he wants to copy the HKS design. no probs

Grant you think HKS Intercoolers are expensive Try SE biggrin.gif

If he can do a copy of the HKS intercoolers for that price, count me in!

He he he ill have to get some form of royalties biggrin.gif

I'm interested if he can do copies of Warrens twin HKS intercoolers. I'm not ready for a new front bumper just yet!

Andy

I reckon we should all chip in and buy warren a christmas pressie for volunteering his car wink.gif

count me in, im up for any upgrade at the right price. especially if they aer copys of warrens.

Bear in mind if you go for 1 large front one, it tends to cause turbo lag, the only singles you normally see are on high powered Zed's, mainly because the pipe work is extended from the original to the intercooler, also if not retaining all 4 pipes changing to just 2 complicates things, certainly uprated twins is the best and easiest route, that's why i've got a fabricator making some up for me now down south, due to pick them up next weekend, will let you know on prices and spec justincase anyone is interested, Geoff you still got those piccies of large singles ? can you post them up, smithy

Warren,

Sounds like a new clutch from the boys is in order ...

lmao.. the rennlist 911 turbo forum has a group buy on Koeklin intercoolers right now...

but their's cost $1850 hahahaha sorry

i thought you might have found that as amusing as i did/

lol turned the gain down and cluthc has been alright thank god.

Whew nice and expensive but take it as a percentage of the cost of there cars and i think we are the mad lot biggrin.gif

Yeah I'll have some of that please vicar biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif This sounds like a bargain if the guarantee is good enough wink.gif

CheerZ,

Andy

Off-subject - sorry, but.....

Tim, Could you e-mail me with how you did that. I would like to learn these HTML bits. Appreciate any help. Thanks, Geoff

Smithy, let us know when your man has done his bit cost etc etc. Then perhaps those of you with the technical know-how (thats me out of it)could enlighten us with your wisdom as to the best configration of twin, single, modifications to bodywork and so on.

And those of us without the technical wisdom (thats me) can make a decision.

That twin set up in the pic looks the Daddy, but would it fit under a standard front?

Grant

thats two hks jobbies mounted together i believe. I will give that a bash when my new fornt comes along.

Just to throw a spanner in the works.

You can get the HKS SETUP like i got for £660 shipped.(roughly based on exchange rate)

So if you all get a group buy going im sure they would drop that price.

Hmmm Wonder what this guy will charge for two intercoolers?

Back to the top. Really interested in these. Would it help increase power on any setup or is it purely to prevent damage.

Tim

In theory they should have less pressure drop across them due to better design, so you might gain a psi or two of boost.. However you wont, in actual fact, because the boost level is set from the manifold..

Should let you increase the boost with less strain on the turbos though.. (i.e. they are working less to produce the same boost due to less of a drop across the coolers)..

I have to say when you make a hard run first thing it seems to come on very very strong, much better than before.

I would definatly recomend them.

seems expensive but worth it.
