Right dont bother lying about it because it wont wash with me.You all have had cars you want to keep quiet but the truth must come out sometime.

I just come across an old photo of my Mk 4 Cortina 1.6.Mods included black paintwork, white 8 spoke wheels, raised rear suspension, mirror film windows, red lights in the grille and 2 static strips hanging from the rear bumper oh yes and do you remember those big plastic louvers that went right over the back window? well it had one of those as well..

Beat that if you can..

Beat that ? No problem matey !

Way back in 1983 I had one of those 3 wheeler things known as a Bond Bug (they were always bright dayglo orange) Mine was sprayed blue had a big chrome exhaust piece and sky blue shag pile carpet !!

PS - My last car before the Z was no less than a Renault Twingo !! BEAT THAT ANYONE !

My first car was an 83 Metro Turbo with special "Flintstone floor"! I had to weld the floor with bits of metal from my neighbours washing machine to try and pass the MOT! It still failed. :(

But at the time I thought it was the dogs dangles (as you do).

It had a little LED boost gauge and at full boost it would manage just over 70mph and felt like an Apollo spacecraft on re-entry!

Oh yeah, it broke down in the Blackwall Tunnel when the wheels came unattached from the driveshaft!

datsun 100af2

vauxhall cresta

talbot horizon gts

triumph spitfire times 2

renault dauphine

bond bug

cortina's mk2 3 and mk4 estate

mg bgt

and last of all a rover p5

this is what comes of having a father and uncle who collected cars for fun you had to see some of the scrappers we had in our yard

I'm sorry guys but try and top this, I had an MG Maestro. 1600cc's with throbbing webber carbs bolted to an Austin Maxi engine! Complete with talking computer, some sexy chick telling you to put your seat belt on and refuel, The relationship ended abruptly after she said "warning low oil pressure!" and I ditched her.

I had a Triumph Stag last year for a month and am still in therapy they have a bad reputation for a reason!!

I'm quite (!) proud of my first 2 cars - both Opel Manta 2.0 GTE's!

I had a lorra fun in them!! Dead easy to fix too!

My last car before the Z was a 200sx. Nice.

ive only ever owned a mitsubishi lancer evo1

a mini and my 300zx

so i think ive don e alright the mini is now being towed to the scrap yard as i left it in wimbeldon (it might still be there) anyone want it they can have it it still works ask craig lol

no comment!! - but it definately didn't have twin turbo's, a performance exhaust and reach 60 within 5 seconds.

Actually, I don't think it ever actually reached 60 ;-)

Steve

Nice cortina ;-)

Here's my contribution:-

1985 Red Rover 2.3 SDi I owned this for a month. I think something new went wrong on it every day.

Another Dave ;-)

My first ever car was a 1987 Toyota Supra 3.0i. I replaced it with a 1990 Supra 3.0 Turbo, before getting the Z.

I seem to have a fetish about 3.0 Jap sports cars!

Dave

My first love was my Mk1 Cortina, a lovely mint green with Rover 3500 block and a Jag back axel! Complete with the legendary dice and tiger seat covers.

Not forgeting the CB radio and 6ft whip antenna.

Those were the days

Bob

My worst car was a Y reg Talbot Solara!!!

It had shock absorbers that were tied on with washing line and every now and then (actually it was more now than then) the gearbox would fall off the side of the engine (usually when it was really inconvenient - like halfway across a junction) and you had to get out of the car, push the gearbox back onto the engine and then carry on on your way!

Ok Mark I think you win on that one!

Oh sorry. Didn't realise it was a competition LOL.

Gold capri 1.6 on a w plate. I was young and stupid then.

God Dam

Congrats Paul that has gotta been the funniest thread we have ever had in over a year and a half on the line.

I noticed Craig is holding back some info on his old Lowriders, And Simon P, come on spill the beans on the Gold Montego and friends :o)))

Mine include the highlights.

Pale blue Ford Capri 1600 L, hit a Wall in the Isle of Man at over 90 wasn't happy afterwards

Black Ford capri 2.0 Lazer, Twin Choke Webbers Cherry Bomb exhaust and 70s Fuzzy Pimp seats + big ass Sub and other Cheap Tandys Audio sundries.

Renault 5 GT Turbo, black w/ speed stripePrima Turbo upgrade and intercooler w/ 8" odd exhaust rolled it three times again not happy, nice car, bit sad

Opel Manta GTE 2.0 Silver with Blue Go Faster stripe which safe to say didn't make it go faster.

German BMW M3 went like SOAS, nice computer that talked in German but gave my Dad WW2 flash backs so i sold it.

My Nissan Silvia was Badass, had it thru Uni and never spent hardly a Penny on it. I think several people died testing the emmisions at its last MOT, but Boy can Nissan make a fun sports car. Same for the 200sx which i also had but my Girlfried drove into a wall in Scotland.

The Worst ....

Austin Allegro, Bleache Orange Hue colour with plastic seating that removed all need for seat belts or air bags, you weren't going anywhere on a hot day in them. A mate gave it me for free, i drove it thru Sainsbury late at night and bumped it over a curb which caused the engine to fall out....

Ive had some nicer ones that these too but we aint Wang wavin here are we ?

Z ya

Nice collection there Nico!

I still think that Mark wins though, cause he could push the gearbox

back in place and keep driving. You could not put the engine

back in place and continue driving, could you? :-)

I had a car once that makes me laugh thinking about it.

It was a '77 VW Sirocco, yellow with gold painted rims (hand painted, no spray here).

I bought it and sold it before I even got a license, go figure...

When I was selling it the buyer discovered that the car was

partly made of cardboard and plastic padding...

Very embarrassing to me, I went like "Oh! It wasn't me I swear! I didn't know about it!..." :-P

It was true, I didn't know about the parts made of cardboard, I just fixed some minor holes with plastic padding...

Nico, it wasn't a Montego is was a Gold 1.3L Maestro (Far superior)with beige interior and Slide tilt sunroof.

Mods included a section of straight through pipe that was u-bolted between the tail pipe and mid section when the back box fell off. That was a serious mod I'll tell you!

My previous cars include a Sp*tfire 1500 Sports (yeah right!) a Mini 1100 (Not)Special

and I hope your all sitting down for this..............a blue 1800HL Austin Princess...with HydroSpastic Suspension..........Now that's got to win.

Simon P

CRAIG wats this about lowriders did u have a low or was it just some old nail check out are rides on www.unity.outride.com/ mines the candy red datsun

Nico,

your Austin Allegro....

I always wondered who bought one of the most aero dynamic cars, when driven backwards.. now I know.

My first car was a bright green mini, which used to get called a drawing pin as the CB aerial was so big. When I drove to fast it used to hit the back window! And the speedo managed to go off the scale round to the indicator, which was a nice feature.

Ahh, yes, I had an MG metro too, I still have a brand new performance K&N for it in the garage that never got fitted.

And last, a Honda Civic 1.6i16v... which was a really nice car... but some monkey made me sell if for my 300...

I always get asked what's next. Well, s*it knows. The only car that I want costs as much as my house, which puts it slightly out of reach, and then there's the servicing and the 10K F1 gearbox upgrade. Maybe I should buy that really tacky Ferarri kit for my 300! 8)

col, that was just a little barb from Nico...

Nico "give me a Clio anyday" dawg

i dont think i have any skeletons in my closet like you guys.... ;)

i had a 1964 mini with 1275 cooper s engine in an 850 shell. drum brakes all round, bucket seats, push button starter (standard), wheelspan standing starts in 2nd, went off the clock at 70mph, and took off on hump back bridges :)

other than that, mantas (A,B,400), lancias (beta, spyder, monte carlo) and my super reliable trusty sunny zx coupe

I lost my mini when I split from my girlfriend, it was a 1973 Innocenti cooper export. 1275cc 1 1/2" SU carbs high profile cam, close ratio gearbox, twin tanks and everything. Turned heads like nothing on earth.

I still have a Volvo P1800 coupe and a Lotus Esprit so things are not all bad.

All this talk about minis reminds me of my mates mini he used for hill climbs, it was so light it used to thrash Westfields with bigger engines... which says something.

He took my round a track one day, s*it it was quick, but had such as small fuel tank would only last two laps.

I remember that day some race alpha spiders were being tested and were so fast they left everything standing and were told to slow down. Not heard of that before on a track!
