in short....YES

Rear is most noticable....front is more effective after rear is fitted

I have KYB and set to hard and the Struts just made it feel sooooooooooo solid.

No wash out on fronts and less drift on rears.

Very impressed with improvement as I also was sceptical

Its marginal, with the rear making the most difference.

The most noticable difference in improving handling (over shocks and springs) is said to be uprated sway bars(anti-roll bars) - In fact many people quote this as an absolute must and the first modification you should make to improve handling.

How much are sway bars(anti-roll bars) and who supplies them?

About £200 -£250ish...delivered and imported.....STILLEN do them amongst others

Actually $255...but thats in us

Front and rear £140

theres uk ones i think...someone?

Dunno m8....only done them on beemers...that was feckin hard coz of solid uprated bushes...not easy to get in and line up.

I've got Whiteline adjustable roll bars front and rear on mine. Got them from Demon Tweaks here in the UK.

I've also got a front strut bar and fully adjustable coilovers all round together with full poly bushings.

It was all done at the same time so I couldn't say if any one item made the difference but just to say that the car is PLANTED !!!

I find it almost impossible to get the back out of line and there is no detectable understeer in the front at all......well worth it IMO.

Oh yeah I also have a HICAS eliminator too.

I am an official Stillen reseller.

After adding in transportation, import duty and VAT you're looking at roughly £240 for the Stillen adjustable anti-sway bars (incl all the fitting kit) and the DTA front and rear strut braces go for £140/pair. Shipping within the UK for the anti-sway bars is about £25 and £8 for the strut braces. I can do a deal if ordered at the same time. The anti-sway bars are an awkward shape and weigh about 15kg together so that is why transport costs are so high. As for fitting them, the sway bars can only really be done on a ramp and with two pairs of hands. The strut braces are simple (in comparison) to fit by yourself.

Stillen also do a very nice rear strut brace which I can get for around £150 delivered to your door. Note: this will only fit on aftermarket suspension - not standard.

Danny have you got any pics of the strut braces as the link on your website dont work.

Yes, I'm aware of the dead links to the Stillen stuff. Sorry about that ... haven't had time to update that.

I'll need to get them off my home PC - so will post the pics tonight if that's ok. I'm attaching a pic of the strut braces here but they're not mounted to the car - gives you an idea though ...

Cheers!

No worries danny. Bit skint at the moment as cars in Ryans for a Fast Road Autobox, but the strut braces are next on my list. (big list LOL)

High mounts, not gusseted, loads will be transferred to weak areas and very likely simply flex, rather than providing lateral bracing. OK if you're only after bling, but I wouldn't bother with them.

Spend the money and buy properly engineered ones, e.g.:

or similar. Notice the strength at the point of load? There's none in the first example.

TBH have too agree most strut braces i see are for nothing more than show and would certainly not aid handling in any shape or form

there is a lot of imitation crap out there so if your going to buy these spend the extra and get good ones

Surely Danny at DTA would not sell strut braces just for bling rather than purpose? the only reason i say this is i have just bought a pair but have also ordered Stillen anti sway bars.

Sorry, but they look like $8.25 e-bay specials to me.

"Toys Auto" is right.

But, you get what you pay for. You have to wonder though, when the postage is 7 times the buy price.

Cusco do a very nice set, front and back. Will post a pic when they arrive

Dunno if you mean the strut braces or anti-roll bars, but as for strut braces they have never listed the front from what i can re-call, only ever the rear and checking Cusco UK, they still don't list fronts, could be why i've never seen a pic of one on an engine so far

get a Carbing - they're solid.

The Carbing's are $300 each. $600 is a Lot of money for something that is going to have very minimal effects, if noticable at all.

Untill I get my new ones, Iam running a front n rear courtesy strut brace with a rear Ladder bar also. The car feels solid and the back end wobble has gone.

I got mine from the states but pretty sure they are over here too.

The mounts and the crossover itself are like an rsj !!

This thread beagan with the question "... I just wanted to know if it would make a noticeable difference??."

The answer is "Yes", if they are properly engineered. I have a 2+2 without strut braces and a 2-seater with Carbing. The difference can be noticed.

The point I was trying to make is that, regardless of brand, it's the design that's important. If a bar is high mounted on thin gauge steel supports lacking any gusseting and swoops up to clear throttle covers, etc the loads will simply transfer into the bar itself and induce flexing. Then there will certainly be no benefit.

Instead it should be as horizontal as possible, robust in design and adequately engineered at the turrets to maintain its integrity under load.

Our friend "speedemon" indicated that he had purchased what I consider to be $8 e-bay specials, so 'bling' would seem to be the only benefit.

I think other members should steer clear of such braces if they are expecting any handling improvements. What is disappointing is that such things are being offered for sale by fellow members as functioning struts, when in fact they are purely decorative.
