auto n/a 300 1991

unable to move gear lever from park position + key is stuck in ignition, can anyone tell me how the brake to keystick safety device works is it solenoids and can they be overridden (apart from emergency switch on lever)

Is the microswitch under brake pedal or in engine bay

Thanks

there's a switch under the brake pedal.

sometimes you need to turn the ignition on, and press the brake pedal a few times, before you're able to put it back into Park.

I don,t know owt about the electronics but if its a Jap auto there is a little lever/button in front of the gear lever to move the gear shifter without the key in , just in case you need to move it .HTH :D

dismantle the ignition lock. There's a safety device in there that prevents the key from being removed and also stops it going into gear (I think I'm right here?) ...any way, the safety device (solenoid) packs up - mine went about 4 years ago. It's easy to figure out what needs doing - you simply tie the solenoid open using a length of wire or elastic band.

Then you can remove the key in any gear...et etc.

good luck
