My Zed stumble's badly and cut's out and smokes after fitting new dump valve's!!

Bov's do go psssshhhhht when you change gear or take your foot off gas suddenly car start's to stumble immediatley after psssssshhhht!!

Zed was fine running on recirc's and run's fine when i remove the Bov's and replace with the old recirc's???

Everything was fitted exactly as it should be (pipe's capped off/correct clamp tightness/bov's fitted to right pipe's)

Any had the same?? :headvswal

add some washers to the BOV's so there is more pressure. I had this problem and it will help.

As for the smoking, well I am not sure about that.

The smoking i think is due to unmetered air or metered air being lost hence resulting in over rich mixture, which is only since fitting the bov's!!

What make are they?

Most have an adjustable spring tension, sounds like you need to add some tension until the problem goes away. Had some idle probs on the APEXi's I fitted until I did this, then they were fine.

like Alex says the ApexI ones have an adjustable screw that needs to be set to 4mm of thread out the top. not sure about other makes tho. car does run very rich for a sec after dumping. mine used to stall when it was an automatic, but once converted to a manual it doesnt (but of course youve got engine braking while in an auto you dont [in 'D' anyways])

You will get a stumble as the metered air is being dumped out instead of recirculated.

One of the drawbacks of BOV's.

My S-AFC has a feature to compensate for this.

My bailey BOV's on a manual are fine. car performance isnt effected. but the sound is ace...

so does mine but it didnt bloody work on my automatic

with a manual you wont really notice unless you slip into neutral or keep clucth down. or unless your S-AFC works  ;)

i wouldnt have thought it would still cut out on an auto as the ecu should compensate/correct for idle loss surely? even if you had a moment of unmetered air?

I found the problem was mainly when i came off the power suddenly and braked down to a stop it would stumble and even stall sometimes.

Adjusting the springs didn't help with that.

dont forget tho that the ecu thinks the air is recir'd and still in the system, and doesnt realise its been dumped
