Rear axle oil hear exchanger

the Zed is in for MOT & new parts required. is the heat exchanger required? Will it mess up the axle if I don't fit a new one? They said do away with it you won't get one anyway so I said let me look at the Zed site & will let you know. What do you all think? Help required ASAP. Don't know what to do :confused:

    It's the cooler for the gearbox but it's only the UK car that has one.

    It's not really needed.

    It is thermostatically controlled with an electric oil pump. So it comes on at 90+ in hot weather. I found mine was leaking oil from a loose hose joint after a drive in such conditions. Until then I never knew it was there! Has it rotted?

    Thanks will bin it & put in a bypass that is not on top of the axle & I can get to it if it goes wrong.
