Theres probably a link for this but i cant find it, I bought a couple of decat pipes a couple of weeks ago and ive been doing the rounds to see if anyone localy will fit em coz i dont have time, a couple of places said they would do it but warned me that the car may not pass an MOT cos of emmissions, how do you guys get away with it, also adding things like a new chip, bigger injectors, induction, etc, do they fook up the emmissions as well? do all cars need to pass emmision tests or those only manufactured after a certain year?

Thanks in advance

Officially all cars later than 92 require a Cat. But the 300zx is not on any cat emission data sheets so they have to test it as a non-cat car.

Dont worry, it should'nt have any problems passing emissions just because of cat removal.

theese cars are pretty good on emissions normally so a decat wont be a prob (dont quote me!!) for the MOT.

Quite right...never seen the car on emmision data sheets.

The thing to worry about is possible turbo seal failure and the Vehcle inspectorate doing roadside emission testing (they say they do it but never seen them)

off topic...any news on parcel?

Ive got a 1990 so it doesnt need emission testing then? If thats the case then maybe ill keep looking for someone to fit it who doesnt tell me about emissions, it makes me wonder how much they know if they dont know that!!

splatt...no news yet, although tbh ive not had time to go down yet, this is the silly season for floor fitting!!

You will still need testing just to slightly less stringent standards. Mine failed its emisions but it was a sign that the engine was running poorly so in the garage having a ConZult.

I have been reliably informed that if the engine is running without any probs you will have no issues passing the emisions test. I past for 3 years before failing this year.

Origional Post: dipone

mine is a 94 uk model can it be de-catted aswel

As far as I understand yes it can but it will have to meet the more stingent emisions levels. The link in Paul C's post explains it all pretty well. It seems that the 300zx is not on the list so may well be treated as a car wihout CAT's

See Paul C's link for more detail

upto 1/8/1995 all zeds only have to pass a non cat test (unless they decide to add the car to the emmissions database!!)

i have a 93 series 2 t/t with decats , divorced downpipes , bigger: injectors , air filter , intercoolers and went through mot no probs at all 3 weeks ago. and it was running slightly rich !!!

upto 1/8/1995 all zeds only have to pass a non cat test (unless they decide to add the car to the emmissions database!!)

why do zeds of 1995 have to have cats then

ALL vehicles regestered after that date are subject to a cat test regardless of whether they are in the database or not.
