my battery has not seemed to have enough power to turn the engine over. even after charging over night, it would not hold the charge and went down to 10v. I went and got a new battery today and since then my old battery has been turning over the engine first time without any strain. I just wanted to know if anyone has had this experience before and do you think my old battery is just gonna give up without notice.

Cheers

Maybe part of the problem is due to a poor connection with the battery or earth.

the connections with the battery are all clean and greased up, I'll check the earth tomorrow.

Thanks

i had no notice of my battery going. It just worked the one day then the next dead. I was told the cold weather can damage batteries?

I nver knew this cause i never lived in cold weather ?

Hi guys!

Had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago (see previous posts).

My theory is that one (or more) of the cells have lost their charge - possibly because the fluid had been low. Even when topped up with deionized water (and the battery recharged) the cell won't be able to hold it's charge. Under normal conditions the remaining cells can compensate for the damaged one(s) but after/during cold temps the loss of the cell(s) may be too much to compensate for and the engine won't turn over. Time for a new battery!

Hope this explains a few things ...
