I have just bought a 1990 N/A import in the Bristol area.

When I first looked at the car it was showing the signs of the prop shaft vibration problem - the dealer has fitted a new prop shaft and the vibration is better....but is still annoying. Do I assume that the gearbox rubber mounts need to be changed also?????

Anyone know of any specialists in the bristol area who could help diagnose the problem further?

Thanks for any help.

He changed the prop shaft of the prop shaft bearing?

This could also be tracking out or the torsion bushes gone west.

I dont know - he said the prop shaft had been replaced and it cost them £120 ..... do i assume that this is incorrect?

That sounds like the prop shaft bearing. Which is the usual cause of vibration.

If the dealer changed the bearing and there is still vibration they may well of reassembled the support bearing spacers the wrong side of the bearing bracket, this will lead to vibration, or and have seen this a few times they fitted a twin turbo bearing, this is slightly different but again will lead to vibration, there are code numbers on the bottom, number 5 is a non turbo and number 0 is a twin turbo.

Hope that helps
