Morning everyone!

Last night I fitted white dials to my Zed. With everything now working more or less correctly, the stock temp gauge needle sits at the max temp point (Full Scale Deflection) when I turn the ignition on. Doesnt move up or down when the engine warms up. Anyone recognise this problem?? The gauge was defo working before! I was super careful when removing or refitting components so I dont think

damaged anything.

Any ideas????!!!

Cheers Andrew

If the gauge moves when you switch on, it cant be the power connection, assuming the needle is not bent and hence catching, surely it must be the connection from the sender?

Thats my guess anyway

Yeah, think I've got an earthing problem somwhere. Gonna have a play with the sensor side of things at the weekend.

This just gives me the excuse to buy some aftermarket gauges, LOL! :hyper:

Mine did this too.

I fitted new sensor and bobs your auntie(if you live in norwich :nelson: )

it worked fine.

It played up for quite a while with a dodgy connection...seemed to be plugged onto terminal but was obviously up the shoot internally aswell.

Pretty cheap to replace from MJP and if it looks old then might aswell do it anyway just to be safe...or eliminate it.

I cheched the temp sensor with a multimeter, all was fine. Then I suddenly thought, I've put the frikking needle in the wrong place on the spindle! It rests against the little pin with a pre load. Now its all back together I'm gonna checkt the water temp with another guage to check that my needle is indeed in the right place.

Same here already got mine :nana2: , just waiting to get the car back to fit em!

Did you take the needles off?

If so you will never get them back on correctly. Having resting on the pin is not enough.

If the pin was not there the needle would be lower, its natural resting point is a few degrees below the pin. Putting the needle on resting on the pin makes the resting point too high and thus the needle will always be this few degrees higher

Yeah, realised that at about 2am this morning!! Took the pin out and found the rest position like you said. With the ignition on they take up the proper position. After about 30 mins I got all the needles in to right place. Now I just need to get the speedo recalibrated for the different speedo scale.
