they look abit like mine, someone else had this prob, you need to cut the springs down, I'm runnning about 14psi

what about the soft and hard seting, where is yours set??

what does cutting the spring do?? bit worried about doing this, they just cost me over 200 reddies, where did you hear about doing this, is yours very loud, ?? :hyper: auto or manual????

do a search on the forum mate .. I have defo seen a thread on it ... By cutting the spring

down the valves can release the pressure hence more whooosh..

Someone tell me if I am wrong ...

if these are the ones of ebay they are for an car with hi psi ie 25 ish. so they are very tight ,so they will not open at our psi levels, so by cutting the springs it reduces the pressure on the piston action

I have got them to woosh by cutting the springs to 4 1/2 inches but now after the woosh they sort of screech :( as the revs drop, think its only coming from the one?!? it sounds like a train! :headvswal

I think you need some sewing machine oil or similar to prevent the screeching.

Dont use grease, so I have been told.

where do i put this sewing machine grease???

I believe on the sides of the valve and the piston mate ... Don't use grease though .. Just remember being told not to use grease.

I could be wrong though.

what did you use  and where did you get it

will be sorted eventully :headvswal

I haven't fitted mine yet LOL ..

They should have some lubrication though .. not good having no lube in my book. Hence the screeching I think.

And no, KY Jelly is not going to cut it mate :-)

had mine 9 months and only just fitted, been sat in the shed,,,got whole shed full of bit to put on,, when i get time,

I would use a bit of standard use oil ... surely it can't do any harm ... do a search mate sure something will come up. :-0

I installed the same blowoffs on a car this weekend.

had to cut approx. 2 windings of the internal spring until they started to make a sound from 0.7 bar and higher.

You can use regular grease on the piston for lubrication..oil/wd40 is too thin and will eventually leak out.

PS: for those interested, the sound of these BOV's is similar to, but not as loud as the Apexi BOV's

Thats exactly what I did .. two windings. and thanks for the info about lubrication.

managed to get in touch with the supplyer today and he confirmed what i surgested about spray silcone lub and it dry completey but lubs the piston ;)

would defo suggest taking a look at the tread I posted on psi and BOV's mate ... Erics advice was very good in how to set them up correctly ..

Just a thought :-)

do i have to take the top part off where the spring is to put the oil in or just from the outside?????????????

Hello,

Sorry I have not been following this thread for a while, the ones I sold to Krsmayo as said before about cutting the springs I also had to lube the pistons up. To do this you have to take them off the car :headvswal then unscrew the top and remove the spring and washers if you used them, now get a strong metal object that will fit in the end of the dump valve and push the piston out of the dump valve completely, if this is very hard then you have found your problem, with one of mine I had to get the hammer on the end to budge the piston out, if you think about it if you cant push it out how can the pressure of 7-10 psi push it up and down?? now lube up the internal walls of the dump valve and all around the piston, I used normal grease for this and no probs on mine (Krsmayo any probs??) then keep sliding it in and out until you can virtually push with your fingers. Then put all back together refit and hopefully problem solved and now you can enjoy the woooosshhh. :hyper:

Hope this helps,

Ant
