Hi all

I'm sure someone with a physics degree will explain this (alas I've forgotten most of my O-level physics ;) ) but as I've just bought a Nismo 13kg rad cap why is it better for the cooling system than the stock 12kg one?

Many thanks

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Water heated under pressure is known as "Super heated" the boiling point of the water is raised in relation to the pressure it is under, so if a small increase in pressure is applied by fitting a different cap the boiling point is raised further in theory this allows the water to handle more heat from the engine without boiling.

My opinion though is that a 10 to 15 year old cooling system may well not be happy with too much increased pressure, keeping it sensible should be ok though, water wetter is a better idea in my view.

Hope that helps

People who get the nismo rad cap often find that the hoses blow because they can not take the extra pressure.
