Just brought a 3003z

Hi to all,

I've just purchased a na 300zx 1992 jap import. I'm really pleased with it and it goes well without the blowers. Would anyone know where to get a manual, or any information on servicing etc. etc. Do i cambelt it or do anything else. I'm a bit of a worrier really so as to ease my peace of mind i would be gratefull of any info on how to look after my new pride and joy.

When i turn on the ignition a wierd arial type thing pops up from the front bumper with a green led on it, any ideas?

Thanks to all and look forward to your replies.

The weird front aerial is for vertically-challenged people to be able to see where the front bumper is for ease of parking. biggrin.gif

Are those parking thingies standard on any Z's or kust aftermarket jobs?

I don't have one.

i thought these were only put on the early 89, 90 models i might be wrong though. maybee i was miss informed.."T"..

how many others have these on theres.

...good choice. Where both the TT and the NA were sold together (USA), the NA outsold the TT about 8 to 1. Workshop manual is available on CD from guys on this Forum - try Bob at Safe and Sound? (used to be Bobs place). It's very usefull, but assumes a reasonable degree of mechanical competance. As for the cambelt, I've run my Jap import for 18 months now and am just getting round to changing the belt. When I got it everything was in such 'as-new' condition, it seemed unecessary to change the belt. And there is confusion about changing at 60k for the TT and 90 / 105 k for the NA. The weird arial is Jap only, and used as a parking aid. When it stops working, it's easy to remove and fill the hole and spray over (tidies up the front end look).

If you have any further questions, just let me know. I've owned my Jap NA for about 18 months, and love it. I use it every day, do about 15k miles a year in it and service it myself.

cheers

However, this is a bit misleading because the TT was only available as a 2 seater, and the 2+2 was only available as NA.

This is the reason why there are so many NA->TT conversion questions on TTnet.

Hi,

I agree, a good choice for a first 300ZX!Is it auto or manual..2 seater or 2+2?

I recently sold my manual NA, back in the summer and am still missing it.(soon to be rectified)My car was de-catted with big bore exhausts...not recommended if you are using the car a daily transport!Without turbos to soften the noise, the exhausts can be a bit loud!!

The normally aspirated car hasn't got as many things to go wrong on it, as the TT...so should be cheaper to run.Although, insurance is just as expensive!I was quoted £5 less to insure a UK TT than an import NA!?

Mike feeney at MJP(Eastern) Auto is a good source of help and parts for the NA cars, as I believe he runs a 2 seater NA car himself.

Happy Zedding wink.gif

p.s. If in doubt...get the cambelt changed, for peace of mind!...You do need to rev the NA engine to get full performance!
