is it a common thing with using the r33 skyline brakes to have incurable judder through steering wheel only.

I can't seem to get rid of it when braking at 90mph slowing down to 70 .

the disc's have been skimmed and rechecked for run out, poly bushes fitted to all suspension parts, no play in top links, ball joints no play in them, steering rack no exessive play

any ideas????

I wouldn't have thought any set up working correctly should produce brake judder, I would suspect it could be a heat problem, so maybe dragging brakes, are the brake caliper pistons sticking? or maybe unsuitable pads?.

Could be Vijay, but would put my money on it being the front lower trailing arm with the big bush one end,had same problems myself, changed these and ok(on investigation was only the near side knackerd,so only got that one fitted,PIA to do,Mr F supplied the part)

Believe Jaffa had same prob while back, told him same but not sure how things turned out.

I've changed tension rod bushes for poly even though they looked perfect, and lower arm bushes which looked good as well and they are now in poly bushes, even done steering rack and antirollbar bushes in polly, but still same.

callipers are not sticking. unless brake pads causing it, but wouldn't have though they would cause a shudder through steering wheel, and nothing on brake pedal.

help?? running out of ideas, I even checked run out on hub flange and t.i.r 0.0016"

Tony is talking about the other end of the lower arm, not the big bush that we've both replaced. It comes as part of the arm from what Tony was telling me.

I didn't think there was another bush on the arm apart from the ball joint,mm

I tested the ball joint and no play in it even with a bar on it., can you discribe exactly where you mean ??

richard

This is the one i replaced, the whole arm, follow zee arrow ;)

Hi there, thats the lower suspension arm which I have replaced the bush on(polly) subframe as ther other end is a ball joint

I take it its a unknown fault then

So,looking at the parts diagram which end have you done, thing is your syptoms are exactly the same as i had,the movement in the arm allthough slight was highlighted more becouse of the larger discs/calipers,we got a crow bar between ball joing and it lifted by 1/4 inch maybe less, realy had to lever it with a lot of force to see it,nothing else was wrong under there and after i changed the arm(not replace bush's)it was perfect.

One thing as a last resort, have your front wheels weighted while there still on the car, remember having a wobble simlar again,on a RS Turbo, this time it was cured by having wheels weighted while still atached to hubs,it worked, you may have to phone around a bit to find a tyre garage with this kit though.

Ditto that. I had dragging brakes last month it juddered like hell. £30 later it was sorted. Pads were sticking.

I wonder if mine are then?

Just fitted brand new disks and pads, also had part of the steering rack which was loose tightened.

All was perfect for about 200 miles but it's just started juddering again!!!!!!!!

How do you sort the dragging brakes????

Cheers

any update on this one guys i have brake judder too, just skimmed the disks, new pads poly bushed the tension arm, bottom arm too cant seem to find where its coming from, brake hard and its not there, brake slowly from say 70 and it gets worse as the car slows down?

when i skimmed the disks i noticed the pads dont sit square on the disks as they wear the disks slightly more on the outer edge of the disk because the piston now is more towards the outer edge of the disk, not sure this makes any sense, its wearing like a knife edge.
